The case is faux Stiff Leather without that chemical smell. It does tend to get sticky, easily washable. The inside consists of velcro fasteners and felt-like backing for the Velcro. The tab easily slips in and out. I haven't even begun to arrange all the positions the case can move into, but it does live up to the hype. AND - its cheaper here, who doesn't want a deal after spending all those bucks on the Toshiba Thrive itself?
I keep the Tab mainly in the case (only take out for some gaming). I got into this habit from keeping the Kindle in its case. You can charge and use ear plugs with the case on. You can slide the port covering piece off, and your mini-usb is ready to plug in and do some file transferring (Vista and Win 7 only, XP needs an upgrade, Macs and Linux need tweaking).
There is a video on You Tube demonstrating Open Port Hatch with the case on. Most folks typically slide from the top down (Power Button on top). Even the docking port is available at the bottom, though I don't see docking with the case on. The straps and Case Holder are also faux Leather, and a strap with Velcro backing securely holds your Tab in place. Holes are sliced for both front/back Camera lens access.
I've read that not so many were pleased with the 360 choice. This case suits my needs just fine, as I'm sure yours will be met.
Side Note: may be returning the screen protectors - just don't feel the need for them at the moment. Feels more like the Kindle than my Lap Top.
I have heard people talk about the slimier roocase but there website doesnt even mention it and the contact us link doesnt do anything. This case is made very well and looks nice. You do not have to keep the tablet in it all the time. I sometimes take it out and when I am done but it back. For $30+ bucks I like the protection.
The only con I have is that there is no strap to secure the case closed when not in use and to set the desired operating angle, velcro is used. However that does allow you to set the viewing in minute increments throughout the usable range.
The real success story is Nu Image who sells the portfolio at very competitive pricing and have and awesome and responsive support staff.
I was amazed at how fast my order arrived!
Don't forget the screen protector!
- looks good
- the stitching is solid
- the velcro holds well.
- it provides easy access to all the ports
- the multi-position standing capability is nice too.
My only quasi complaint is the "heft" it adds to the device. In fact, once I removed it, the Thrive felt much more portable and I enjoyed using it more. If you can deal with the heft and thicker tablet then this should be a great product for you. If you like lighter/thinner protection this will be too much.

Yes, it adds weight and bulk, but I rather have it to protect the tablet from accidental bumps, scratches and drops, especially when my 4 yr old kid is playing with it. The case fits nice and snug. The only issue I have is that while the tablet is in this case, it's somewhat difficult to open the cover to the USB, HDMI ports, you have to really dig into it with your finger.
After using it for about 10 days, I found that I rather use the tablet without this case, since I mostly use the tablet at home only. Don't need the extra protection and that the case makes the tablet feel too thick, the tablet feels so much thinner and lighter without this case. If the tablet gets damaged without this case, my bad!
HOWEVER, I have big hands and like that I can tell i am holding onto something.
For functionality this case is great, it has been useful since the moment I put it on. When lying in bed i can set the case to prop the thrive at a steeper angle so that i don't have to hold it when reading my news feeds. When at work i can lay it on a slightly more reclined angle to make it easier to work on using both hands. I have not used the smallest incline because it is about the same as laying the tablet flat on a table, but lying the table flat takes less effort.
Also the case was well thought out when designed on where to hold the tablet in at, All of the status lights are still visible (a plus for me, i have seen where some people find the lights distracting) and all the ports are still usable (hdmi/usbs/power/headphones) The only improvement that could be made is the front cover, there should be a slot made so that when you open the case you do not block the rear camera, i do not use the camera so this does not bother me, but i imagine trying to take a picture while holding the case open could be a pain.
