Touch is the debut solo album from former Bad Company vocalist Brian Howe. It may be blasphemous to say this, but I enjoyed the Howe era Bad Company albums far more than the classic Paul Rodgers material. Howe has such a great voice that is perfect for the AOR/melodic rock genre, so his time with Bad Company was a match made in heaven.

As good as it is, Howe's solo album does not quite live up to expectations. For one thing, it's 90% ballads. Granted they are good ballads, and Howe pours his heart into them, but would it have killed him to let his band rock out a bit? A couple of "Walk through Fire" or "Holy Water" type songs would have helped tremendously. For another thing...actually that was my only complaint. Other than the fact that the album doesn't really rock, it's still a pretty good disc. Howe's voice sounds as good as ever, and the songs (slow as they are) are quite well written.

Touch will probably disappoint fans looking for more of that Bad Company style rock, but will no doubt please AOR fans that enjoy lighter fare such as Hugo and Street Talk. The good news is that Howe is currently working on a follow up album that is supposed to be a much more rocking effort.

NOTE: This album was also released under a different title - Tangled in Blue - that only contains the first 10 tracks. The closing song "How It Could Have Been" is exclusive to this version.

First thing that I thought was what a great song but after 5 tracks I was beginning to wonder how come Brian forgot to bring the rock and roll... The albums produced to the max and his voice is stellar. The album is dull to a degree because of the sameness from track to track. Not a rocker in the bunch until the tenth track which is only somewhat upbeat. I can't bash the album because the songs again are good songs just simular. I would have loved to hear him blast something in the vien of "Tied Up In Love" from Penetrator or even a poppy "How About That". He sounds as if he can still sing the hell out of a song but he went the way Cheap Tricks, Robin Zander did on his painfully slow/boring over produced self titled album. But atleast the ballads here are well crafted and sang with Brian undeniable soft rasp. Could have been a much better album.

i have never seen anything like this by any artist. howe has 2 cd's on here, one is "Tangled in Blue", his solo project from 1997, and this one is almost identical, except for one additonal song (the last one), just with a different title. i suggest buying the 97 cent "Tangled in Blue" and download the bonus track on this one ("How It Could Have Been.")

I really liked Brian Howe with Bad Company(not as much as Paul Rogers)and I expected some rockers on this solo CD. The music and songs are not bad but Brian's voice shines, as always.
