I picked this up late last night and started reading it as soon as I heard that it had hit Amazon.com. I even woke up late last night with the kindle hitting me in the face because I just did NOT want to put it down. From start to finish, this adventure captures the imagination!!!
It's a different twist for SE Smith's books and one I truly hope she continues! Each of the characters are wonderful and unique!! From Topper, the cooky but funny lady with the purple hair!!! Frost is such a loveable and confused man that does everything he can to protect his woman. Lacey is someone we can all relate to as she struggles with her past and tries to run a non-profit shelter... even "little bit" the adorable puppy!!!
I'm not going to say more because I don't want to ruin the story for everyone! What I will say though? You will NOT be disappointed by this read, well until you reach the end and realize that the story is over and you're whining for the next one!!!
First problem, going in I knew from some of the reviews that the book was not only about an alien, but everything else was too much, like werewolves, dragons, witches, ghosts, trolls, etc. there was too much magic and nothing was too difficult that some magic couldn't fix. This is an example that reveals some of the story (view spoiler).
Secondly, insta love. I am not a big fan of insta love, but I tend to overlook that with paranormal books. It doesn't seem so far fetched with the paranormal thing going on and feel that the author can usually weave it into the story not just state it bluntly. It makes the story feel choppy to me. Like, "I am alien and you are human and I know you are crying right now over your dead husband, but since I am your "true" mate and we are in a bed let's get down and do the monster mash." Huh?
And finally, everything takes place on earth! I don't know if its just me, but when I read an alien scifi I expect at lease half of it to take place either in outer space, like a space ship or something or on a different planet. They could have possibly done that in the end, but I stopped reading around 80%.
Loved the cover and the sexy scenes were pretty steamy, but I was so frustrated with everything else going on that I didn't really enjoy them.
Frost is an intergalactic law enforcer who must track down a truly evil alien creature, Taar, who has escaped to the primitive world called Earth. His mission this go around is to kill Taar and return with the inhabitants of the planet none the wiser, but when Frost tracks Taar down in a place called Magic, New Mexico, both Taar and Frost are in for a total shock when they meet a beautiful young woman named Lacey. Magic, is a place where there's, well, magic. Witches, werewolves, vampires, ghosts, trolls, shapeshifters and every other creature call Magic home and it's a place where the unique and special can be left alone. So when the showdown of Alien vs Paranormal come to a head, Aliens have got nothing on these creatures!
One thing that was special about the book is that you have no idea where it's going. There are so many twists and turns, with danger around every corner you have no clue where the story is going to take you. When you think the danger is over, more comes at you.Read more ›
