Without a doubt, the best holiday romance book for the season! D.H. Gibbs expertly creates a story full of warmth, friendship, romance and with "A Touch of Kindness". If you only read one holiday read this year, make sure this is the one.
"A Touch of Kindness" easily acquired a 5 star rating for many reasons, including:
*The depiction of warm, kind hearted, wonderful lead characters that were so passionately depicted, it was easy to want them to have a HEA.
*The two main characters Mali and Quin both became a better version of themselves through having spent time together. Mali was able to let love in, for herself and for a relationship, where previously all her efforts went to helping others. Quin became more humbled by helping others and fell in love with Mali's bi generous heart. Also both characters continued to develop as the plot became more indepth.
*The narrative was balanced between the two lead characters, allowing both sides of the story to be told. This allowed readers to get to know both characters well, and invoking a shared investment in both having a HEA.
*The plot from the very start is all about Mali and Quin's life leading up to a possible romance. The author D.B. Gibbs wrote with such affection and feeling that it was hard not to be hooked. Also the story was told as a short read, allowing readers to only have to wait a short while for the ending.
*The intensity of the romance was increased with the creative twists and turns to the plot. The suspense of knowing the "getting to know each other" could go horribly wrong hinged on Mali accepting Quin for all that he was (no spoilers!).
*A favourite part that stands out in the story for Quin is the exchange of Christmas gifts leading up to Xmas (no spoilers!). Quin, not following company procedure, in advance took Mari's tag, becoming her secret Santa. The first act of generosity he showed was by buying her a very personal and much needed gift, which won me over. And from there on, gave presents that hinted to their time together.
*A favourite part that stands out in the story for Mari was when she first meets Quin (again no spoilers!). In her own way to not let others do wrong to another she voluntarily steps in on something that could have otherwise have gone wrong. This incident though shows us a lot about Mari and the kind traits that she has. Plus easily winning readers to her plight!
Overall, this book won me over from the start, and I hope to read more books by this very talented author D.H. Gibbs. I thoroughly recommend this romance to all readers of all ages who enjoy a heartwarming holiday romance. This book can be categorized as a clean read.
I voluntarily read this book in exchange for an honest review.
