Editorial Reviews

Review

The story was immaculately presented, true to the period and well edited. The characters were fascinating and make the reader want to know more of their story. The plot was well constructed, with nothing to jar the reader out of the story. The conflict and resolution was handled well and there were no loose ends. 5 Stars - Loves Romance

Lucy Monroe has once again captured the essence of love and put that into a book that will keep you glued to your seat. Touch Me is the perfect title for this tender romance. 5 Stars ~ A Romance Review

TOUCH ME is an extremely romantic story. Drake is a manly man who knows what he wants and takes it. Thea is a headstrong woman who fights for what she believes in. Their journey to the altar is a passionate one and with every breakthrough Drake makes, you'll cheer his success. I really liked this story a lot. - Fresh Fiction

The story line is character driven as the cast especially the support players vividly brings out England, the West Indies, and to a lesser degree sailing the Atlantic in 1820. Fans of historical tales will want to journey with Lucy Monroe as her wonderful tale will touch readers hearts, making them look forward to future passages starring the heroine's half-sister and twin. 9 out of 10 - Harriet Klausner

Thea and Drake are compelling characters. The resolution of the embezzling plot had a great twist that I enjoyed, as did Thea's confrontation with her father. There are two more Regency-set novels to follow about Thea's brother and sister. I'm looking forward to them. - Rakehell Reviews

Thea and Pierson were both wounded, intriguing, complex, wonderful characters. The action/suspense was fast-paced and thrilling. The sex was HOT and perfect for the story. Not only it offers sufficient romance to the end of the book, the characterization, humour, suspense are perfectly blended in a page turner. It is sometimes shock, sometimes hilarious and sometimes sexy. Absolutely highly recommended and one of the best in the genre. I absolutely loved this book. The author has a great gift in her ability to develop characters. Lucy Monroe writing instantly puts you into the scene. She has a good feel for the period, strong, engaging characters. This was just the kind of romance novel I love. Wonderful characters. Characters that seems real because they are not perfect-something most novels like this lack. The relationship between the leads is endearing. I found the characters to be multi-dimensional and the author weaves a mystery into the story without slowing it down or interrupting the romantic flow. The love scenes are ample & steamy, and the plot is a good one. A fast paced book with an intricate plot that I cannot help but enjoy. The interaction between the leads was great. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series.

Thea is my kinda girl - outspoken, unafraid to speak her piece, even if it's not the most popular opinion, and willing to take care of herself. She doesn't need a man to protect her. Her relatives have already taught her all she needs to know, maybe even more than they realized. But she eventually finds out that a girl sometimes needs a man, for reasons other than protection. And she finds out that even tough girls like her, need a little tender care.

Lucy Monroe takes the reader back to 1797 England in the beautiful story called Touch Me.

Thea Selwyn was raised in the exotic West Indies. Her mother had fled England with her when Thea was a small child. She has enjoyed vast freedoms there that her counterparts in England did not. Thea's openness, love of life and beauty cause a stir in Pierson Drake.

Pierson offers Thea and her maid passage back to England on his ship. There Thea is determined to get to the bottom of who is stealing from her uncles and her shipping company. When someone tries to harm Thea, Drake refuses to leave her side and aids in her quest. During the voyage and in England Thea and Drake succumb to the all-consuming passion they share.

Thea learned on her mother's knee how men and marriage are not for her. Drake has his work cut out for him to convince Thea to take a chance and risk her heart.

Touch Me is an exceptional novel. The emotions are deep and compelling, its sexy and wonderfully romantic. It's a gem. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

I absolutely loved "Touch Me" and cannot wait to continue reading the Langley Family trilogy! Ms. Monroe's ability to develop her characters to such a depth that I actually feel invested in their lives is a talent beyond compare! This is an extraordinary story of love, subterfuge and passion that bring together strong flawed characters that hold your attention from the moment you open this book till you put it down wanting more! Ms. Monroe's ability to write characters and dialogue that cause you to laugh, cry and gasp is truly exceptional! Can't wait to start on "Tempt Me"!!

Ms. Monroe has created a very good read with the first in a series titled "Touch Me." Exotic locations, unusual characters, and great chemistry combined into a read that will entertain.

Thea is not your typical woman. She thinks for herself, does for herself, and can't be bothered with what others think of her. A trust issue tore her family apart and now she finds that she must go back to England to investigate a possible theft from her shipping company. Her chance to sail for England come at the hands of handsome Pierson Drake. From the get go these two spark energy off of each other. It's only a matter of time before the spark kindles a flame. Now neither of them can deny the attraction, but each has a well protected heart and is shy about laying that heart open. Will these two wounded people find the love that they each doesn't think exist with each other?

This was a good book. Thea is a modern day woman in many of her thought processs' but Ms. Monroe still manages to keep to the time period despite this. The fact that both Thea and Pierson have issues does prevent this story from reaching a natural conclusion any earlier than it already does. This despite being a tad frustrated a few times this read did manage to entertain. I look forward to the next in the series which is titled "Tempt Me."

Forced to flee England with her daughter, Lady Langley takes Althea Selwyn to the British West Indies. There Thea grows into a lady unlike she would have been in England. Helping her mother and Uncle Ashby Merewether manage a shipping business, she becomes a headstrong, independent woman. After her mother's death, she lives with her uncle and aunt; worried over her uncles' health, when she discovers discrepancies in some business records, she decides to not tell her uncle but to travel to England to investigate on her own. She winds up on Pierson Drakes' ship. Drake has never met a woman like Thea; soon he suspects that her life is in danger as he rescues her from two "accidents". He becomes enamored of Thea and the inevitable occurs but when he tells her that he will marry her, she refuses. A predictable story, not especially interesting to me.
