I will start off saying I tend to stay clear of any books written with today's wars in them. I myself am a Vet and it can bring some pretty hard memories back into play.

I have a wonderful friend who is always talking about Stacy's books and because of her I have read many of her books. I bought this book thinking it went with another set of her books. I started reading it and feel in love with Timber and Kat. As I was telling Anna there were a few parts in the book that caused me to toss my Kindle aside as they hit very close to home with the PTSD matter in the book. ( which is why I normally stay clear of such books). But Stacy hit it right on! She took a very hard subject matter and hit it on the head! Not all soldiers returning from combat have PTSD and not all that do have it as bad as Timber but she nailed it and give it the attention it deserves!

I wanted to say thank you for such a great book and bring to life what many of your returning military personal and family's deal with on a daily bases!

And well Timber was just hot to read about !

I read this book because Stacy Borel is one of my new favorite authors. I read her book Bender (see review) and I wanted to read something else by this author. That's when I came across Touching Scars...WOW just WOW....this book is so emotionally charged, it drags you through each of the hells the characters are experiencing and doesn't let go. The only complaint....I wanted a little more on Kat's back story and what lead up to the nightmare she's hiding.

Kat is a tough gal who is dealing with the demons of her past or more like hiding from them. She's a bartender who is trying to make something of her life and loves tattoos. Then you have Timber, the man dealing with his own demons after losing his entire squadron in Afghanistan. My heart broke for Timber...I mean literally broke. Both are trying to fight their issues on their own but what they don't know, is that they need each other to survive and conquer the demons.

Kat and Timber know each other from high school but their paths only crossed once, yet that's all it took. Their paths cross again when Timber moves to a small town in Texas to find work at an oil rig. Kat lives in the same town and works as a bartender in the only bar around. It doesn't take long for Timber and Kat to reunite but both have issues that neither one is ready to let the other know about.

I loved Kat and Timber's story and the build up to their love for one another. The way they both rescued one another stole my breath! I think the part of the book that almost gave me a heart attack was when Timber walked into the bar with "the creep"!!!! I was like WHAAAAATTT?!?!?

Stacy Borel is really becoming quit the author and I will read anything she writes so if you want a great love story with some action and heartache mixed together, read Touching Scars!

I am familiar with Stacy Borel's books so I was expecting nothing less than amazing when I started this book. Well Stacy, *HIGH FIVE* and a huge congrats to you.

This book takes you on a tragically emotional journey. You will feel a multitude of emotions ranging from anger and rage, to loss and healing, and love and redemption. Put all of those things together and you have a brilliant love story complete with absolute craziness and beautiful ending.

I will start by saying my heart went out to the two main characters in this book. Timber and Kat are both so broken but yet so strong. They are both running from past demons that have the potential to throw them into a downward spiral from which they would never recover. Kat is haunted by her past and her failure to believe she was a survivor sends her on a journey to recreate herself. What happened to her made me physically ill. Her strength is amazing.

Timber worked hard all his life just to fall a little short on a secured future. This takes him the path of a hero which turns into his worst nightmare.

They are both destined to leave the past behind them and end up in the same place. That is called destiny, such a beautiful word. Destiny in this book was their saving grace; they were meant to heal each other. They had amazing chemistry and were perfect for each other. Hot, loving, and passionate sex. "Chocolate Chips"... you'll want some. You'll know what I mean when you get there.

When the past shows up, oh man my heart sunk. I knew what was coming and it scared the hell out of me. I was so scared for Kat I was shaking. I was looking forward to a little redemption for her. The rest of the book was absolutely amazing watching them fix each other was so beautiful.

Timber Nelson is a returning Army veteran. His mom died during his first tour and gets a job working an oil field. Kat (Katherine) works in a bar in the same town and went to high school with Timber.
PTSD haunts Timber.
"How on earth did I find this diamond in a work that was so harsh and dark?"
"I never knew I could find someone that could touch my scars?"
So scars are external and some scars are internal and how you let people see you is how those scars show through. Timber and Kat have to let go of those scars to move on in life or be haunted forever.
