The smooth back (no points) version of our bestselling traditional police gloves just got better. The Tough Gloves version of the famous Damascus D301 UltraThinTM Cabretta Police Gloves is a nearly exact copy of those hugely popular gloves that have been standard equipment in the law enforcement community since 1967, but with thinner, more tactile (and washable!) ULTRA-thin cabretta leather. Damascus Protective Gear recently stopped making these gloves, and have allowed us to make our own version to the same high standards you're used to, so they're thin and flexible to allow maximum dexterity and you can write, search, handle firearms to get the job done without ever taking them off. Water-repellent, classically styled and available in three colors, these gloves are everything you could ask for in a high-performance patrol glove. SIZING HINT: These gloves are made to be worn tight! If you want a very tight fit, order your true measured size. For a more relaxed fit, order one size larger.

They are not ballistic cloth and are not rated for puncture resistance (IE.: needle sticks). However, I found them to hold up well to an icepick. Now, don 't come back from Missouri or some place and stab them. They won't resist that. However, a slight touch against a sharp surface will not damage them. What is particularly nice is that you can go from frisking to writing to handling equipment without having to remove your gloves. Even nicer is that you can wear rubber gloves over these without any problem.
So I am going to suggest you add +2 to whatever measurement you get, and that 'might' get you the right size.
I wanted a really thin leather glove, and that's exactly what I got. I didn't know leather gloves could be that thin, but the other reviews and description are right on. Think rubber gloves that are made of leather, and you'll get the idea.
My hand measured 8 3/4" around the knuckles, and I bought a size 9. It was a perfect fit.
Before purchasing, I did some research about the quality and sizing. There are all sorts of contrasting reviews concerning size: some had to exchange up, while others down. So I thought I'd add my experience.
First, the quality is really nice. They look and feel great, and the chestnut color is a deep, dark brown. In pictures, they look as though they have a reddish hue. However, in real life (at least the ones I have), there is NO reddish hue. They can only be described as dark brown. I love the color. They also smell great.
As for the fit: my hand measure about 9 and 1/8th of an inch. I couldn't decide whether to go with a "9" or a "10." I decided to go with a size "10" as I have long fingers, and they fit perfectly. It's difficult to get my hand inside the glove; it's a struggle for sure. But once on, it fits just like a medical glove. It's really tight on my hand (but not painfully so). They are very dexterous gloves, but at this point (brand new) they're tight enough to be a bit constricting, but people mention a break-in period. It's leather, so once they stretch-out a little bit, they'll be perfect. I'm glad I didn't order the "9."
If I had the cash, I would order one size up, a 10", and see what they feel like. I suspect that larger around the knuckles doesn't translate into longer in the fingers/palm for me, so probably my size is perfect.
The reason I didn't give them five stars is because I find them about 1/4" short. Maybe my hands are longer or something, but they barely cover my palm. I'm hoping that they continue to stretch and get longer, but if they were just a tad longer they would be perfect.

These gloves a slightly on the small size of the chart. (Just a tad.) Nevertheless, a tight fit is good. Other reviews say they will stretch over time. Read morePublished 1 month ago by John B

These are nice gloves, but their color in the photos here as well as on their website is inaccurate. Chestnut is purple. No two ways about it.Published 7 months ago by Anonymous Coward
