Product Description

The smooth back (no points) version of our bestselling traditional police gloves just got better. The Tough Gloves version of the famous Damascus D301 UltraThinTM Cabretta Police Gloves is a nearly exact copy of those hugely popular gloves that have been standard equipment in the law enforcement community since 1967, but with thinner, more tactile (and washable!) ULTRA-thin cabretta leather. Damascus Protective Gear recently stopped making these gloves, and have allowed us to make our own version to the same high standards you're used to, so they're thin and flexible to allow maximum dexterity and you can write, search, handle firearms to get the job done without ever taking them off. Water-repellent, classically styled and available in three colors, these gloves are everything you could ask for in a high-performance patrol glove. SIZING HINT: These gloves are made to be worn tight! If you want a very tight fit, order your true measured size. For a more relaxed fit, order one size larger.

If you have missed my other reviews, I work at a jail. We have to touch inmates, a task that is often tedious, if not unpleasant. These gloves are sturdy enough to provide protection, and thin enough to allow sensitivity during frisk searches. They are designed to be tight; it makes them like a second skin.

They are not ballistic cloth and are not rated for puncture resistance (IE.: needle sticks). However, I found them to hold up well to an icepick. Now, don 't come back from Missouri or some place and stab them. They won't resist that. However, a slight touch against a sharp surface will not damage them. What is particularly nice is that you can go from frisking to writing to handling equipment without having to remove your gloves. Even nicer is that you can wear rubber gloves over these without any problem.

These gloves are very nicely made, comfortable, and look very nice. But do NOT trust the sizing chart, which suggests that the numerical glove size you need is the same as the perimeter measured around your 4 knuckles and hand, excluding the thumb. For me that measures 9.5 inches, so I ordered size 10. I can't even get my knuckles into the size 10 glove, much less my thumb and whole hand. I exchanged them for size 13 (I have always had to buy the largest gloves I could ever find), which was done free of shipping cost, but by snail mail, so it took several days. The size 13, after wearing them for about an hour, are clearly a little too big. Especially for something like typing, if you need them in a crime-oriented job setting. I probably would wear a size 12 to get the snug fit most of the reviews of this kind of glove recommend. But I will just keep them for use as a dress glove, rather than deal with the return process yet AGAIN.

So I am going to suggest you add +2 to whatever measurement you get, and that 'might' get you the right size.

Excellent fit and workmanship. Very thin, as I required, but not fragile. Yes, you can manipulate keys and firearms, as well as pick up coins while wearing these (the classic test). They somewhat resemble black latex gloves from a distance but glove aficionados will ask you where you got them (one actually grabbed my hand and inhaled repeatedly -- no, I'm not making this up...). Well worth the $.

If you know what you're getting, then go ahead and purchase.

I wanted a really thin leather glove, and that's exactly what I got. I didn't know leather gloves could be that thin, but the other reviews and description are right on. Think rubber gloves that are made of leather, and you'll get the idea.

My hand measured 8 3/4" around the knuckles, and I bought a size 9. It was a perfect fit.

These gloves are fantastic!! Wear them while in the patrol car without your hands getting too hot. Jump out on a hot call and your hands don't get too cold. Easily put on your winter "traffic assignment" gloves over these. These gloves are well worth the price. Note: They fit tight and mold to your hands. You will have to put them on and take them off several times before they break in. It took me about 20 seconds to put on one glove at first. Great pat down gloves also.

    Size: 6Color: Chestnut
Color: Chestnut ---- Size:10 ----- Measured handsize: 9 & 1/8 ----- Just received the gloves: This is an initial review

Before purchasing, I did some research about the quality and sizing. There are all sorts of contrasting reviews concerning size: some had to exchange up, while others down. So I thought I'd add my experience.

First, the quality is really nice. They look and feel great, and the chestnut color is a deep, dark brown. In pictures, they look as though they have a reddish hue. However, in real life (at least the ones I have), there is NO reddish hue. They can only be described as dark brown. I love the color. They also smell great.

As for the fit: my hand measure about 9 and 1/8th of an inch. I couldn't decide whether to go with a "9" or a "10." I decided to go with a size "10" as I have long fingers, and they fit perfectly. It's difficult to get my hand inside the glove; it's a struggle for sure. But once on, it fits just like a medical glove. It's really tight on my hand (but not painfully so). They are very dexterous gloves, but at this point (brand new) they're tight enough to be a bit constricting, but people mention a break-in period. It's leather, so once they stretch-out a little bit, they'll be perfect. I'm glad I didn't order the "9."

I measured exactly 9" around the knuckles. When the gloves arrived they felt small and I was about to re-gift them to a friend, but thought I'd try break them in. Two weeks in now, and they fit me perfectly. I spent a lot of time just stretching them, pushing fingers deeper, slowly pulling them on more, and now they are awesome. Very skin tight, comfortable. If you get these gloves and they feel small, don't despair. Just break them in.

If I had the cash, I would order one size up, a 10", and see what they feel like. I suspect that larger around the knuckles doesn't translate into longer in the fingers/palm for me, so probably my size is perfect.

The reason I didn't give them five stars is because I find them about 1/4" short. Maybe my hands are longer or something, but they barely cover my palm. I'm hoping that they continue to stretch and get longer, but if they were just a tad longer they would be perfect.
