I mean such a short book and yet I felt like I was literally right there experiencing all of their emotions with them:)

.THAT.
.WAS.
.AMAZING.
I couldn't come up for air and often found myself getting mad during *life interruptions* like my 6 year old twins and husband simply speaking to me.

*I found this prequel is very interesting, VERY thrilling and beautifully written. It pulled me in at page one! Skye Warren did a great job at describing the main characters life and all that she's dealt with, and also telling me enough about the supporting characters that by the end, I felt as if I knew all of them.
* I found myself anxiously turning the pages to see where she would take all of them in the story.
*By the end I was on the edge of my seat and more than ready to read *Love The Way You Lie*. Fabulous prequel.

MY Favorite quote:

"I can’t stand him looking at me. Not because I don’t want him to see. Because he’s looking at me like a dying man would—as if he knows it’s his last sight. As if drinking his fill."

This short story is a preview to a new series. Clara and her older sister Honor are daughters to an aging mob boss. He's arranged the marriage of Honor to a horrible man who is also a dirty cop named Byron. He isn't a nice man and already leaves bruises on Honor. Clara is only fifteen and so far, her dad has left her alone. However he still pretty much keeps her a prisoner in the house not allowing her to go to school and always having guards around. She becomes close friends with Giovani, the seventeen year old son to one of her father's most trusted men. It's not until the night Gio helps save her and assists in helping Clara and Honor escape that she realizes her feelings for him must be love. But at what cost to him? Will they even escape before they're found?

Good start to a series that keeps you interested from the very beginning.

This book is a very quick read. While it says on amazon that it’s a little over a hundred pages I’m not so sure. It was too quick of a read to be that length in my opinion. Anyways, this book focuses on Clara and her feelings for a man name Giovanni whom she obviously has strong feelings for. With her family being a part of the mafia, Clara and her sister Honor decide to run rather than face the abuse and death that come with the mafia. This quick read mostly focuses on Clara though and my interest is piqued to see what happens with Clara and Honor next. A decent read, but short. I will definitely be reading the second book (Love the Way you Lie) to see what happens.

Genre: Dark Romance

Book Type: Novella (short story), part of a series, prequel to Love the Way you Lie

Overall Rating: 3.5 Stars

Would I Recommend: If you plan on reading the next story then yes.

Not sure anymore why I chose this book. It's not what I would normally find entertaining. In fact I found it to be a bit amateurish and the narration came across as a bit dead.
I am disappointed.

This prequel left me ravenous for more to this story. It's dark and gritty and dangerous, everything I'd expect from a story about 2 sisters imprisoned within the walls of their mafia family's mansion. But it's so much more. Clara's attraction to Gio, a forbidden attraction that can never be... the longing and the impossibility of it all was both heartbreaking and palpable. You could feel the danger, the fear these girls lived everyday, the neglect they lived with, the loss of hope that they'd ever be free and happy unless they ran. It's the perfect open to this story, captivating the reader, immersing them in a wholly addictive story line and then leaving them immediately hungry for more. I was consumed.

A really good, slightly dark and mysterious prequel to the Stripped series and if it's anything like Warren's other books, I just know we are in for a really sexy thrill ride when we get into the rest of the stories.
Not very long but with enough "meaty content" to set up what's sure to be an exciting "on-the-run" saga for these two sisters.

**** 4 **** "time to get tough girls" stars

Good Lord, it’s good to be back! One thing about reading and reviewing … those that love it crave it. And I have been craving it for far too long! Thankfully, while a hiatus is horrible for so many reasons, I can come back to my passion at any time … even after life gets in the way. I figure I would jump back in slowly, so I am going to pick up a few novellas that launch a series. I have had my eye on so many, so picking has been difficult. I finally went with the age old method, first one there wins. Skye Warren popped up first, so here we go. I have to say, I am quite excited about this one, having red other books in her alter ego, and knowing how fabulous they are.

This novella is a bit tricky to describe because Ms. Warren packed so dang much into a few pages. I blew through this one in about 45 minutes so if you are pressed for time, but wanting something quick that will give you a little bit of a feel for what is to come in the series, then jump on this train. I was actually a little amazed at how much info she crammed into such a well written novella. Real quick, this series launched in the heart of Mob life in Las Vegas, NV. The story centers more on Clara, a 15 year-old girl of a Mob boss, who longs for a normal life rather than the sheltered prison she has never been allowed to leave. She, of course, is madly in love with Giovanni, who is basically in training to run with his own father as soon as he turns 18 as the enforcers for Clara’s father. Clara also has an older sister, Honor, who we know about, but I feel as if she has a completely different story that we are possibly given a glimmer of at the very end of the novella.
