This is a delightful book reminiscent of the excellent writings of Maeve Binchy. The characters are nicely drawn, with the usual "OMG, I've known ones like that!" semi-nightmare travel companions as well as the ones you would love to go with anywhere. True to the genre, this book winds up with everyone getting just what they needed. It is a light, feel good read with just the right amount of allegory to leave the reader satisfied.

I seldom give a 5-star review. This story is unique in characters and plot...no formula to guess the superficial actions. I really enjoyed the characters and happy outcomes enjoyed by most, through their growth and interaction during the several days of The Tour.

One of my Irish ancestors came to America as a 10-year-old indentured servant, in 1695 (County Carlow). I wonder what living relatives I have today, in Ireland. :)

For me, this was slow to start. I initially did a bit of flipping back and forth in the book to keep the characters straight in my mind. All in all..it was a very good story.

However, the author needs an American editor or at least someone more familiar with American terminology. We don't put our purchases in a trolley...we use a cart (or here in Texas, a buggy). A baby is pushed in a stroller...not a pram.

If you have been to Ireland, this book will stir up memories. If you haven't been, good luck finding a tour like this. My tour guide was Con. In the book, it was Conor. It's a feel good book in a great region of the world. I loved learning about the cool instrument. It's like a bag pipe but pumped with the arm. The UILLEAN PIPES. I never knew what they were. At one time, they were called Union Pipes. Pipes of the elbow.

I skimmed this one because it failed to keep my interest. It's clean, but I just couldn't get into it. I really think this book is better suited for the +50 crowd.

I could not put this book down! The characters were absolutely wonderful and the story was totally delicious! I wanted to be on that tour bus from the minute he started the engine. Every scenario played out to a perfect ending. I highly recommend this book to everyone!

WOW! This was the best book I have read in such a long time! 5 stars is not enough! We spent 3 weeks driving Ireland in 2009, but now are too old to rent a vehicle. After reading this book, I would like to take a small coach tour, with Conor, of course! Each character was a book in itself! Thoroughly enjoyed each story & read most of it out loud to my husband. I think Ellen was my favorite. Such a touching story! Can't wait to read more from this author. Thank You so much Jean!

O I just loved how the characters grew and changed over the course of this story. It was a quaint jaunt through Ireland with moving human stories weaved in. I cried with the chars gets when the trip was over. A lovely little read overall.

I am often disappointed with books whose stories are placed in Ireland due to lousy plots, poor dialect, and cheesy stories. I will give my biggest praise to the dialogue that portrays the manner in which the Irish speak. I truly could hear my friends and family in Ireland in this dialogue. While some of the characters were predictable, it was interesting to watch the changes in them as the story progressed. There is a bit of mystery that surfaces regarding the character of Bert. I liked that some of the genuine Irish culture can be found between the lines. The ritual of tea, the traditional music and the genuine friendliness of the Irish. If there were any stereotypes, it was of the Americans in the story, some of whom embody the loud ugly American. I looked up a song that was referenced in the story, KillKelly Ireland, and it brought me to tears. A bit of genealogy and finding your roots as part of this story. I was sorry that the story ended and even the next day I found myself thinking of the characters. It's rare that I find a story that lingers with me. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to be transported to Ireland. You won't be disappointed. I was so engrossed in the story, that I did not notice many editing mistakes.

I was looking for a book that would serve to relax, inspire, and remind me of a trip I took to Ireland. The Tour was perfect! The plot revolving around a tour group in Ireland had twists and turns to it, with marvelous characters who imparted moving wisdom in their words and decisions. The author was able to tell Ireland's story, too, by deftly weaving it into the plot. It was the kind of book I could not put down, reading it every spare minute I had to finish it, but then felt sad when it ended, as I wanted to keep reading more about the characters and Ireland! I will be watching for more books about Ireland by Jean Grainger!
