"A fun, educational adventure with an adorable penguin! My kids (age 11/2 and 3) love the Tovi the Penguin books, and this newest book is noexception. They love pointing out the ladybug on each page, and thelanguage is easy for them to understand. They know certain parts byheart already and repeat as I read out loud. The illustrations arebeautiful, and there are lots of tiny details for them to pick out, name, talk about... they really get a lot out of just one book!"
About the Author
Amazon bestselling author Janina Rossiter loves three things: design, France and her little family.
She studied communication & illustration design at university, and haslived in Germany (her home country), England (where she met herhusband), and now France (where she vows to stay). After graduating with a degree from university she worked as a packaging designer for a fewyears before setting off on her own and expanding into freelance design. She enjoys the creative energy of Paris, where she lives with herEnglish husband and her two daughters.
With the arrival ofher first daughter, Janina's love for painting and drawing found a newlease on life and, before long, she combined her passion forillustration with the wonderfully inspiring world of children. Afterthat, it was simply a matter of time before Tovi the Penguin was born... .

Vibrant colors with sweet illustrations keep young readers interested, while older siblings will easily manage reading the text independently. Children learn that not all penguins live in cold climates and how to problem solve in a difficult situation. Recommended for readers two through eight, though I believe preschoolers and kindergarten children will especially enjoy it as a bedtime story.
That was my main reason on picking this particular Tovi book to read. It’s geared more towards the ages of 2-6. It’s a simple picture book that follows the adventure of Tovi and friends through several books. I loved that it was not a one shot idea for a book, and it continues. As any child grows, repetition is key in learning. It also helps if you introduce a particular character they grow to love.
I loved that Tovi and friends were all penguins, going to the beach. I think it goes to show that it doesn’t matter who you are, life is pretty enjoyable! A good lesson as well is being aware of your surroundings. They were so excited to play and enjoy themselves, they missed out on a clue or two that might hinder their day of fun in the sun.
The pictures were all nicely done and weren’t really “flat” so to speak. There is a bit of texture and the bold colors are both great sensory stimulators. The book also reads in a landscape view on your eReader.
Even though some of my musings about the book may allude to a broader lesson than what the author intended, they are ones you can take and run with. Janina follows up the book at the end with some cute personal photos a great choice of other books and the very last page that every kid loves to end with. But of course “The End!”!
I give this one 5 out of 5 stars!
Tovi and his two friends have gone to the beach. They set up camp, build sandcastles and swim, but something unexpected happens while they take a nap!
My kids love penguins of all shapes and sizes. They will spend hours watching them at the zoo, and in documentaries, as well as reading about them in both fiction and non-fiction books. So Tovi the Penguin definitely took their fancy!
Tovi the Penguin Goes to the Seaside is a cute story about friendship and fun at the beach. The language is easy to read, and the text is clear. There are little pieces of speech associated with each penguin, aside from the main narration, which we liked. The story is nice, and I enjoyed reading it aloud to my toddlers.
Bright, simple illustrations adorn every page. Can you spot the ladybird in each picture? I like the sandcastle and the sea creatures that the penguins see when they are snorkelling.
Tovi the Penguin Goes to the Seaside is suitable for toddlers, preschoolers and lower primary school students. It is part of a whole series of Tovi the Penguin stories. We hope to read more about Tovi soon.
This colorful children's book about Tovi and his penguin family and they head to the seashore for a day.
Cool the things they discover. Each wants to do something different. The options are limitless, just use your imagination.
When the tide comes in they are in trouble and discuss what to do and still have a fun time. They have the solution so it won't happen to others.
Its also a great opportunity to explore all the vocabulary related to sea, ocean, beach, summer vacation... with ESL classes.
Real simple dialogue. Quick easy story line for my toddlers to understand. Some sense of humor that made the kids giggle.
