At Tovolo, we believe time spent cooking should be fun and we are honored to be a part of that experience in each home that uses our products. We challenge ourselves to improve the performance, function, and appearance of kitchen tools. Something as simple as a silicone spatula moves us to create the perfect experience for our customers. We obsess over every detail to ensure that our spatula will outperform expectations. However, performance alone is not enough; we want to put a smile on the customer’s face as well. Whether it is our Spatulart silicone spatulas, our assortment of frozen pop molds or our whimsically shaped ice molds, we strive to add a colorful element of fun to each of our items, to do just that.

The nice thing is the cubes have no smell or taste. Ok, so if you're reading this, you may be wondering why all the fuss about ice cubes?
If you drink scotch with ice, this is a treat. The cool factor is great, but to have a solid sphere of ice that has no off taste or flavor, that's the important part, especially if you have a special scotch. Who among us hasn't had funky smelling/tasting ice cubes? None of those with this sphere maker!
This is inexpensive, cool and is a great gift to yourself or someone else. This plus distilled water and you've got great clear ice spheres!
Pro's Looks cool, sturdy, well built.
Con's: Takes up a lot of space in your Freezer. My first attempt wasn't pure crystal ice but hey, I didn't really expect that.
Would I buy it again. Sure,
The same can certainly be said for this It's big, complicated (for an ice cube tray), and only makes 2 spheres. Only one of which is “clear.” A truly clear one I have yet to achieve, but who cares, really. It's an unusually drawn out process to make and then extract 2 ice spheres. You don't just 'pop' them out of the tray, like you do with a normal silicone tray. The 2 cubes are actually 1 big dumbbell that you have to separate.
I do like the large size , but the all the extra hassle to make one clear one seems hardly worth it. And I'm retired, so I do plenty of things that seem hardly worth it.
There appears to be easier round ice options out there. Possibly this one Chillz Extreme Ice Ball Molds - Original & Best Ice Barware Tool Set - 4 Ball Capacity Mold - Makes 2.5 Inch Large Whiskey Ice Balls (Set of 4).
But as the copy says: “The clear cube is sure to impress ...”
If impressing your friends with clear ice cubes is your goal, then the Tovolo system is 'clearly' the way to go.
The only way i have been able to get the top ball clear is to assemble the unit like the instructions say then place the entire thing into a deep square Tupperware that is only slightly larger and deeper then the unit itself then stuff a rag or towel around the top blocking the gap between the tovolo capsule & Tupperware creating 2 things. 1 it keeps the mold together & 2 it makes another layer of insulation around the base while leaving the top exposed to freeze from the top down. With this trick and spring water i do get clear ice in the top ball. But is this all worth it for just 1 clear ice ball per 24 hours? And common Tovolo you named this product "clear ice" but unless I "jerry rig" your product it simply does not work. It will only give you clearer ice in the top sphere with bubbles in it but far from clear. I am also very suspicious of all the good reviews for this item. Especially because some of them say that it will freeze in 12 hours & I cannot get mine to do this even with the lowest setting on my deep freezer. Some say the bottom sphere was the clear sphere & this cannot be. The way it is designed the bottom sphere is supposed get all the impurities so it should be twice as clowdy not clear.
All in all im still not sure im even going to keep this item. I hate it when things just dont work like they are advertised & i have to figure out how to make them do what they were supposed to do to begin with. I added a pic of the unit in the Tupperware. I hope this helps someone else get clear ice with theres.
I enjoy using these just wish the connecting ring wasn't made of something that was so breakable at cold temps.
