Barbara A. Res worked directly with Donald Trump for eighteen years on some of his biggest projects and had nearly unlimited access to him. Trump selected Res to be in charge of construction of Trump Tower, his greatest success as a developer. In this insider’s look at how the ambitious real estate developer became the most divisive president in recent U.S. history, Res takes us into closed-door meetings, boardrooms, limo rides, and helicopter flights to really understand what makes him tick and shows us why his claim to be a great dealmaker and savvy businessman is just a mirage.
No one with this kind of access to Trump during his formative years as a developer has ever written so completely about who he is away from the cameras. It’s no wonder that when the media are looking for someone who really understands Trump, they turn to Res. Candid, personal, and deeply perceptive, Res shines new light on the man whose depravity has put us all—and democracy itself—in danger.

From the Author
Why is my book any different from the scores of Trump books already on the market? That's easy to answer. I spent years as the employee with whom he spent the most time. There were days when we almost inseparable. But before I was his vice president in charge of Trump Tower, and after I left the Trump Organization and came back as executive vice president in charge of development and construction and then later as a consultant representing Trump for years in a massive condemnation litigation in California,I have been in on the action. I watched him as he progressed from his very first project, the Grand Hyatt, through his crowning achievvement,Trump Tower, through his overreaching and failures and almost going personally bankrupt, to his lost years when he mostly did nothing until the Apprentice came along. So who knows him better? Yes there are those who grew up knowing him, those who spent a year of his life with him, members of his close advisors and his cabinet to reporters traveling with him for yearsstu, and many who spent years studying and researching every element of his life, all of whom wrtoe books but there is no one who witnessed his metamorhosis from a ring side seat over 18 years like I did. There can be no denying that I have insights, and I have shared them over the years. But there are things I know that I have never told. They are so volatile that they would not have been believed in 2016. It was only by Trump revealing his true nature that my stories could make sense. So here it is. The most comprehensive portrait of the most dangerous man ever to occupy the White House. I hope it gives you a better understanding of Trump and inspires you to do what you can to stop him from getting another term or, if he wins, to have your voice heard to control him and possibly impeach him, but, if nothing else, to stop him from totally eracicating the civil rights of many Americans and destroying the environment.

The newest of the lot - sure to be supplanted by the books coming out next Tuesday and every week, ad infintum - is “Tower of Lies”, by Barbara Res. She was the Trump’s manager of construction for many of his most famous building, like The Plaza Hotel and Trump Tower. Beginning working with Trump in the late 1970’s to mid-1990’s, Res’s job included sparring with Trump about problem building details, particularly those which were exacerbated by Trump’s ingrained cheapness and inattention to details. Res writes about Trump and his family in matters of business, which is where she knew him and is best versed in the real Donald Trump. What she writes about a man who has been disgusting to others for his total business life only seems to echo what we’ve known for years about Donald Trump.
Barbara Res’s book is a good look at the Trump we know. No surprises; the Trump nastiness to most women is explored in the context of his businesses. Dirty...

I’m British, but fear of Donald Trump and what he might do to destroy democracy in the USA and the world has hung over me every day since he won the election in 2016. I cannot see him going quietly on January 20. It is, quite frankly, a terrifying prospect, especially in the midst of a rampant pandemic. God help us all.
Thank you for writing the book, Barbara. I hope this appalling man does not take revenge on you.
