Whether by design or chance, the top can be removed so you don’t have to keep opening and closing the case to build on the brick plate top. You then just snap the hinges back together to close it.

I purchased this as a gift for a family member. It should be a larger size in my opinion. Lego did make a full-sized 14"14" lap table for travel. They are no longer in production. This is an okay substitute but the size holds it back. I can't speak to the durability or storage capacity but it looks well made and it has compartments to hold enough legos to travel with. I was on the fence about returning since this wasn't as large as I would have liked. I'm sure the recipient will love it since he hasn't used the authentic lego brand lap tables. My son on the other hand would not be happy with the size since it is smaller.

This was a Christmas gift for my son. He only had it for less than a week when the top Lego base piece came right off. Maybe it can be hot glued back on but it’s just disappointing it broke so soon. It’s still a nice case for all your child’s legos because it has many compartments for sorting colors, pieces and a decent amount of space (not enough for a Lego collector) overall we like the case just upset the top broke off.
