This is a great game, my 7 year old loved it, but my 9 year old is getting borned with it, have had it less than a week. Loved the ride at WDW, and bought the game there for $60, good old Disney bargain! I see Amazon has it here for $40 plus $6 for shipping, so it is a real bargain here. The 3D is totally fake, it seems to consist of a cardboard pair of glasses with one tinted lense, other than creating a minor headace effect, it produces no other 3D effect at all. It is no problem viewing the screen without the glasses since there is no double image at all. Since none of the projectiles that you fire, have any double image when they appear "near" you, there is no possiblity of a 3D effect at all. There is nothing in the directions about the 3D, like turning it on or off, so it appears to exist only in the minds of the product's marketing department. The game is great without it anyway, the game fields are simular to ones in the ride, and even have bonus backgrounds that open up if you score high enough, and a second set for even higher scores. The kids are still trying to find out if there is a third bonus background. This is a great short game, this is the first video game I let the kids have, since it is limited in the game play so I knew it wouldn't be something that they would play endlessly. It was nice to be able to bring part of WDW home with us, and this was our favorite ride. I like this game even better than the Wii version, since this one is closer to the appearance of the ride, both in terms of the screens and the controller.

Update, it is now 4/18/2016 and we still have this game and the kids still play it now and then. Shockingly it even works with our new flat screen TV, I thought it would only work on the old tube TVs.

Received and played this product tonight. Big family fun for 10 yr old , 17 yr old and mom dad . Completely battery powered (2 aaa ) (4 aa ) - make sure they turn it off . Also , didnt seem to work on a lcd flatscreen despite seting game to flatscreen. Had to plug it into older CRT , other than that , happy with game .

My 5 year old got this for christmas. He wanted a game like the one in disney. And this does come close but it definately isnt easy to aim. Sometimes he plays without frustration and then suddenly he cant get the target to line up on the screen. For kids who arent totally exacting and just shot it would be fine but he wants to line up every target. Still it is a different kind of toy and we have enjoyed.

I bought this toy after recalling how much fun we all had on the ride at Disneyland. My 5 year old adores this game and even my husband and I have fun trying to beat each other's scores. We played it for the first time tonight and it kept everyone entertained.

This is fun if you're a fan of Disney parks and you crave a little nostalgia. Do NOT think for one second that this is the same as the ride at Disney. It's similar but not the same. The 3D isn't impressive. You can hardly tell its 3D at all. I dont care for the paper glasses. Like I said, if you're looking for nostalgia, this is a fun toy to drag out of the attic one in a while.

We picked up this Midway Mania! plug-n-play video game at a good after Christmas discount sale, but am rating this as if we had paid full price.

We loved the Midway Mania ride at Disney's California Adventure. This game has some real appeal from the look of the custom controller (very close to the real thing) to the splendid packaging graphics. While this game reflects more of what the ride used to be like before the updates Disney made after Toy Story 3 came out (e.g., Rex and Trixie's Dino Darts replacing the Bo Peep's Baa-loon Pop) my bother with it has more to do with:

a) This game is lower than Standard Definition resolution. Graphic colors are dithered and pixellated, looking too poor a quality for what a video game should be, whether on a tube TV or a flatscreen. The Flatscreen settings don't make this look any better on a flatscreen TV than if you have it set to Standard settings. Sound is Mono not Stereo. This low of video tech on a modern game property is almost inexcusable.

b) The games are a fun way to relive memories, but are missing out on many of the pop-out layered targets and easter eggs like the real games (and that also appear similarly in the Wii version of Midway Mania). Yes this a just a shoot-at-a-target game, but this is too far below the real ride experience that to say it is "inspired" by the real thing is a bit too kind.

c) The 3D implementation is really lame -- not even traditional blue-and-red anaglyph type 3D tech here -- and the included one-tinted-eye-and-the-other-not cheapie cardboard Infin-D glasses really stink. If you happen to have plastic glasses left over from Captain EO, Midway Mania or any other movie or amusement park ride, they actually work much better.

We bought this on groupon several years back and it never worked since taking it out of the box. To be honest, it's been so long since we bought it so I can't give specifics. But all I can say is we were completely disappointed as was my kid bc it literally worked for maybe 5 mins and then it died. Sure wish I had returned it when I had the chance. Maybe we just got a lemon...?
