The permissions this app is asking for are a bit scary. First it asks for boot finish (normal for apps that start up when you start your phone), but also asks permission to open sockets in your network! No game should need to do both of these, however spyware apps would. As an IA professional I would advise you to steer clear, unless you have thoroughly researched this app and are confident it is okay.

Toy Studio has published version 10.0 of Mahjong Solitaire - Classic Mahjong Strategy Puzzle Game. The updated version has multiple performance and stability improvements and is available for download at the Amazon Appstore for Android now.

Version 9.0 released today (2012-Jan-13) appears to have removed the background service that would spam the notification bar (plus two stars for fixing). App still cannot be moved to the SD card.

Game play is similar to other Mahjong games here and in the Market. It does not have background music (like Random Factor Mahjong) which can be a plus in some situations. If you hit the back button while in settings, the games exits rather than take you back to the main menu. Hitting back when at the main menu should exit the app and it does.

horrible permissions for a paid app. only possible reason for internet in a game like this is ads and there should be no ads in a paid app. And the need to start at boot up? No way for a simple game. Could possibly drain battery with a background service and could lead to possible phishing in conjunction with internet. DO NOT INSTALL.

installed this morning, after install I went to do other stuff on the web and started getting network error messages. I have had my fire for over a month and never had any problems with it. I uninstalled it but am still having problems. Avoid this piece of garbage or use at your own risk

The graphics are subpar and not visibly pleasing. Sounds seem to be randomly played. Can't enter your name for the scoreboard. Doesn't install to SD card. I've already install a far better mahjong solitaire game and was checking how this faired. I'm sorely disappointed and uninstalled Toy Studio's version. You'll find far better ones out there, probably more so in the Android Market.

I would love to try this game but I am very concerned about permissions. I can't imagine why a game like this could possibly have to start itself every time you turn on your phone or tablet. I can think of nothing but malicious reasons. I have no interest in permanently devoting CPU time and memory bandwidth to this game. And it should be allowed to store itself on the sd card.

First of all, I love how every single day people go on a tirade about how stupid superman75 is, yet they themselves aren't smart enough to realize he's a troll. Lmao...carry on, dummies, cuz at least you're all entertaining.

Next this ridiculous game. A stupid mahjong app doesn't need to freaking start up unless I tell it to. Not even installing. Amazon, don't you have an approval process to check for this kind of crap? I know you at least used to. This is the second faotd in a very short period of time with obviously unnecessary permissions. This is the first app I've ever rated without even checking it out, but it needs to be pointed out & dealt with. Besides, it's mahjong for cripe's sake. There are plenty more options who aren't potentially malicious or slinging spam at me. No thank you.

My review is in two parts, one part for the game and one part for the programmer and the permissions requested by the game.

The game is great and it is a lot of fun. I like playing Mahjong because I find it challenging and it makes you use your powers of observation and strategy. For the game part I would give it 5 Stars, but!

Why would a simple standalone game like Mahjong ask for full network access and to automatically start at the device boot? I don't care to share my scores on the internet, just keep mine on my device. There are also so many vicious things that people can do with unlimited access to your internet and having their program always running in the back ground.

Since this game was developed for phones and tablets, who wants to have an app running in the background, using precious resources and not knowing what it is doing. For this reason the rating is a 1 Star. Get rid of the permission settings as this game is in the cloud now and I won't use it until the permission settings are removed.
