But here's the hack.
If your truck only have 6 wires behind the drive switch monitor you may have to do some modifications
I tried looking on google. YouTube. Or toyota forums. But theres nothing helpful out there. The explanations are way to complicated to understand or they suggest to add new wires that really dont do the trick.
The easiest solution is this:
1 you only have to popup the instrument cluster. Nothing more
2 on the harnes behind the drive monitor switch.
*Move the purple wire to the second slot
*Move the blue wire to the 3rd slot
3 at the other end you will notice 3 empty spots. You'll move the wires to the two empty slots on the corners leaving an empty slot inbetween
move the purple wire it should be the 4rd or 5ft wire to the top
Then the blue right next to the purple you just moved to the other empty spot.
Remember before you move wires you have 3 empty spots. You'll move the wires to the top but leave the one in between emty.
And that should be it.
All you have to do is move the harness wires to diferent positions and that should fix the problem.
You dont have to add new wires. You dont have to rewire the entire thing. Or have extra wires hanging on. You basically are just recycling the sonar wires to the mpg options
Just remember at the bottom of the harnes move the purple and bottom blue to the empty spots at the top and at the end move the purple and blue that are one next to each other to the top empty slots leaving one empty space in between. That is the easiest solution.
By the way the price is too high. If you are going to end up doing something to your existing truck wiring and not the switch I suggest to buy it from an ebay seller for 60 bucks. Cause after taxes you'll end up paying 112 from this seller and is not even prime shipping so you have to wait a few extra days to get it.
So now I have access to temp, current mpg, average mpg, and distance to empty. As I understand it (reading on bulletin boards), this switch will work "plug and play" in any Rock Warrior. If you have Sonar, you need another switch.
After spending a chunk of money on this truck, having those blank buttons looked so "cheap" and out of place. I'm glad the fix was an easy one.
I'm relentless about tracking my gas mileage on a spreadsheet and this has been a fun tool for my geekness to have faster feedback when pulling a trailer, driving in the city, and driving on the interstate.
Once the switch arrived, the old one was pulled out, new one put in place, and everything was back up and running within two minutes. I wish I would have done this modification years ago!
Truck this was used on was a 2008 Tundra SR5 double cab. No modifications to the wiring harness was needed, which was a very pleasant surprise!

I noticed the unused plug when removing the front dash panel, researched it, ordered it through Amazon from Oremorautogroup because they are in CA instead of far-away (for me!) FL, and had it in my mailbox 48 hours later. Total install time: 1 minute. 5 stars!
