The battery life is right around 2 days. It seemed like the initial charge held for 3 or 4 days but now whether charging for a few hours or left to charge overnight it still dies after around 48hrs, not a deal breaker just a mental note. The app (Android in my case) and the web tracking do their job. DEFINITELY be ready for a few false positives, the device is fairly accurate but not typically exact unless outside and with a clear view of the sky. Trees and buildings get in the way slowing it down but tracking remains steady. Whether I have my dog on a drive with me or on a walk I'm alerted roughly 2min after leaving the 'safe zone' (home in my case). Also when the device is moving at high speed expect the LIVE function to crawl on update, if at all until the device slows back down. I took my dog on a walk and the route tracking was all over the place when I checked the status on my phone. This is not as accurate as your phone/GPS when it comes to mapping a trail route on a hike, lots of missing plots/points/dots that reconnect at odd spots and look like you just cut through streets/buildings/fields/etc. Current location is always pretty close and well within distance to physically see your pet and be able to call out.
Ensure your safe zone is small/large enough to account for the GPS and satellites tracking each other, there will be some jitter. For instance my dog stays in the same home all day but if I watch the app or web tracking it looks like pup has been all over about a block square, back n forth, over here and under there. If you get an alert that says your pup has wandered out of the safe zone make sure you click the LIVE button to see where pup really is, don't freak out until it's updated and pup is WAAAAAAY out of zone. LIVE function is NOT constant, meh. As long as it works when I need it to no big deal.
Clips provided could offer a little more room for thickness on collars/harnesses, if your pet is wearing something thicker than ~1/8" you'll need to find a new attach point. Clips stay in place when romping/rolling/swimming, won't move on the attach point once in place. Device has so far taken about a dozen swims in the local creek and a pond on a duck chase, no operation changes. When attached to the charger it doesn't feel blatantly secure or stuck in place, wiggle room means if you put it down wrong the charge will stop. Even after the few dives the charging contact points seem to be in good condition at this point.
Will update when I next remember to.
Thanks for the peace of mind. =)
The app lacks the ability to trigger a "locate" without going "live" .... many similar devices have the ability to "Update Location" on demand .... That would be a nice feature.
So far I am pleased with this tracker. I'm not convinced that the attachment to the collar is all that secure or great, but it has held thus far.
I have received a few "false" alerts though that is to be expected as things (particularly metal building & magnetic fields & terrain) can interfere with the signal.
Seems to always alert quickly when the dog leaves the safe zone .... though sometimes shows the last location update being 2 or 3 hours old when the dog is in the safe zone ... needs a way to trigger a "updated location"!
The 'Live" tracking is great, though doesn't always connect & is frequently slow to connect.
I like the ability of being able to pull up where the dog has been & traveled to ... though would be nice to have date & time flags readily available with that mapping .... would help identify when & when & why the dogs go to certain areas & help identify ways of addressing or preventing it.
The device uses GSM cellular signal, so it AT&T doesn't work in your area, this device wont be the best. It does use GPS to supplement to the GSM.
