Presenting the world premiere release of the original motion picture score to the 1983 Paramount Pictures comedy classic TRADING PLACES, starring Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche, and directed by John Landis. Legendary composer Elmer Bernstein (THE GREAT ESCAPE, ANIMAL HOUSE, GHOSTBUSTERS, AIRPLANE) adapts Mozart s The Marriage of Figaro and compliments it with his own original material to create an impeccably elegant score that provides pitch-perfect support for what is considered to be one of the great 80 s comedies a social satire that is perhaps even more relevant now than it was upon its initial release. Produced by Dan Goldwasser and mastered by Mike Mastessino from a 1/2 3-track LCR source in the Paramount archives, this special release also features source music from the film as well as alternate cues. Jeff Bond provides in-depth liner notes that include new comments from director John Landis. This is a Limited Edition of 2000 Units.

I have always loved the musical background on the movie "Trading Places". I always loved the formal, classical type of music that made the "ritzy" feel of the settings even more classy.
Recently, I decided to see if the soundtrack was available and happily found it. The music is just like the movie and is beautifully played. The added PLUS to it is that besides the familiar music most people recognize there are several Christmas songs played. These, for the most part are found in the movie but played in the CD they make delightful Christmas music to play during the Christmas time. So, the CD is a two way hit.
So, if you enjoyed the music from "Trading Places" I think you will enjoy this CD. If you love Christmas music it will be a special added bonus for you. Only negative is that there are some pieces of the classical music that show variations of music that was considered and this can be somewhat repetative. But it doesn't bother me much.
The movie, as you know, is a classic on it's own, but this is the first time I really focused on the music and I'm glad I did! I regret that I've been unfamiliar with the name Elmer Bernstein but the music is more a part of the movie than I had previously appreciated ... Elmer, if you are out there and possibly reading this, thank you Man ! (smiles)!
This CD is wonderful. I have been looking for years for this soundtrack. I saw this wonderful movie at the theatre when it was released but did not immediately buy the soundtrack. Waiting was well worth the wait. There are extra bonus tracks that I am sure were not part of the original release. I hope more older movies have their soundtracks released. Many thanks to La-La Land Records for the release of this soundtrack.
