The photography is, as usual, just fantastic... Almost 500 pages of photos showing the artist, his studio, his family, and most of all, all the complete body suits of his clients---it is never mentioned, but all are obviously Yakuza---the Japanese mafia. Lots of group shots, posed and candid, of the master and his blood family and the "family" of his human canvases.
There is a good deal of text---interviews with Horikazu and his son who took over the business after his death...and very informative writing about the underground world of old school Japanese tattoo.
Also included are fascinating historical photos and a large number of his preliminary drawings, all with explanations of Japanese legends. All of the text is in English, German, and French.
Even though I own many books on the subject, there was still much to be learned from this volume---highly, highly recommended.

This is a gem in my irezumi/Japanese tattooing collection, and no collection is complete without it.
Just wish there was more, it’s extensive but a bit samey

Although predominantly full of amazing pictures, there is accompanying text in French, German and English.
Highly recommended book, would buy it again in a heartbeat.
