2015 RONE Award Finalist!

"Ms. Farmer writes a fast-paced and intricate depiction of life on a wagon train, with well-developed characters and not a single dull moment. She has the ability to make her readers feel the pain, sorrow, joy and hardships her characters endure, and takes readers from the agonizing grief of loss to the joy of finding love in a way that will keep readers from putting down this book until the very last word!"

The next installment of the Hot on the Trail series definitely lives up to expectations. Even though this is second in the series it is a stand alone novel that can be read without having seen the first book.

This is a story that leads us to the dark side of devastating tragedy and how two people try to find their way out by leaning on each other. Callie and John are brought together for what one of them believes to be just a short time, but as they help each other with the trials of travel on the trail, they discover a desire neither thought was possible.

Even with this sadness, this book made me smile and laugh and cheer as this couple finally found the ever after they needed.

You will not be disappointed with this book. Love it!

Callysta 'Callie' Lewis was travelling on the trail with her brother Greg, his wife Rebecca & son Jeremy to Oregon which had been a dream of his.
During their travels Rebecca & Jeremy get sick & die & so does Greg eventually, but on his last breath said to her “Find love, Callie. Find love like I did. Find… hope.”
Callie as a woman alone on the trail is advised by others to seek out a man for her own safety to marry.
The only eligible men are Elton Finch & widower John Rye. She sets out to question both & decides on John Rye who's been entrusted to deliver goods to a Mr Koenig's store in Denver City.

John is a man bathed in grief having lost his wife & son to childbirth. He doesn't want to live, never mind marry but accepts Callie & they get married by the inept Reverend Joseph, who's not all he seems.
With this & trouble with the miners in the camp their journey is fraught with disasters but can Callie & John build a relationship that will lead to love ? Maybe, all they need is Hope!

This is the second book in Merry Farmer's 'Hot on the Trail' series & explains what happened to Callie & John which left me wandering in book one 'Trail of Kisses' & in this you get to find out!
I love how the books are written as they are intertwined with happenings from the previous book & you get to see some of the characters from then too of course.
'Trail of Hope' is a great story, one I thoroughly enjoyed & can't wait to read the next instalment.
If you haven't read the first book I suggest you do as an introduction to this series but it's not essential, as all is explained at the start.

This book was better than the first one. I liked the characters and the plot. It was a wonderful love story of two grieving people who found love again. The only negative is the female character was not described well, while the male character was described very well. I hope the next book is just as good.

I received this book for an honest review.

This book is the second of the series by Ms Farmer and she's done a splendid job of seamlessly blending the stories of the people in the wagon train from the first book to the second. Trail of Hope can be read as a stand alone book and enjoyed very much. The author mentions several characters from the first book, but the primary focus is on Callie and John.

Ms Farmer continues to paint an intricate portrait of life on a wagon train crossing the prairie, the intimate look at the characters in the Trail of Hope, and the suspense of mystery all combine to make this truly one of Merry Farmer's best books to date.

I look forward to reading the next book of the Hot on the Trail series!

I love reading books by Merry Farmer, she is an awesome writer. I liked this book, but was not in love with it. I think it lacked some common sense for the main character Callie. It was well written and I couldn't put it down but Callie and John's lack of common sense made me dislike them a little bit.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

After the first book, the story is almost the same with just a different twist for each character. There was a lot of repetition for the first coupld chapters.

This one was a little better than the first one but not by much. It seemed to have a lot of repetition after the first few chapters. Sorry to say, there was nothing outstanding about it.

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
