So, this follows the nefarious life of Andrew Smith, who is the playboy head of Tech-Me, a up and coming company that is taking the tech world by storm. “Tech-Me was the company to work for at the moment. Over the last couple of years, Teck-Me had been making it’s mark with state-of-the-art phones and media players that everyone had been talking about. The bigger companies were beginning to sit up and take notice.”
“And not to forget the dishy Andrew Smith, who headed operations in England.”
And even more so the ladies were taking an interest in Andrew, regardless of his marital status, because he was hot and he had a penchant for not caring about the ring on his finger either. “Andrew was in his mind-thirties, six-feet one, with bright brown eyes, long lashes, a sharp nose, and a chiseled jaw line, his unruly. His unruly hair added to his boyish charm.... Our man doesn’t score high on commitment. Can’t stay away from temptations apparently.”
It is apparent in the book that something is up and Andrew definitely can’t keep it together much. The list is long of affairs and we meet several women that it becomes hard to keep track which is which, except that there is his wife Julie and a regular new secretary that seems more regular named Emma. Otherwise the list goes something like, Emma, Betty, Jessica, Evita, Stacy, etc. There seems to be something going on in the works, someone is out to prove a point a black widow in the mix but you don’t know and you would never guess it either. It is very much a what the hell moment. I loved it. I actually loved this book and the sense of mystery and intrigue. The second guessing I found myself doing so many times is quite the markings of a great book. I personally will be looking for more by McCarthy and hope to find myself engaged in another thriller of his soon!

The story Trails of Sin by Joyce McCarthy is a thrilling erotica/suspense book. This is a wonderful book that had me quickly turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. This book is all about what is happening to a company called Tech-Me and its employees with a special emphasis on employee Andrew Smith. This is a fast-paced book that has plenty of steamy scenes between characters. It will have you turning on a fan full blast and reaching for a glass of ice water. This is a story that has you reading about a plan that include several players whose actions include seduction of some of the bosses at Tech-Me and seem to be aimed at undermining the company and one certain employee. What is the reason behind this plan? The character of Andrew Smith is someone who is not shy about having affairs. He is an employee who “socializes” with the women in the company that catch his eye. His latest interest is new-hire Emma Atkins who he quickly starts an affair with. The last woman that he had an affair with swears revenge. As the story progresses Andrew’s troubles only seem to grow. This is a story that I just couldn’t put down. You can’t help but be impressed by the level of sophistication on which the plan is carried out. Scandal and turmoil abound. Read this book to find out if the plan is successful and what the end result is. Will you learn of who is behind the entire plan? This is the first book I have read by the author and it will not be the last. It is well written and kept my attention all the way through. This story does include plenty of steamy scenes of passion and would be recommended for those over the age of 18.
Let’s just say that I should have “cheated” a bit and read a review. It’s not that the book was horrible. It’s just that it wasn’t my cup of tea – literally. The book deals with a lot of steamy sex scenes, very descriptive, which is usually fine. Except for the fact that it deals with a lot of infidelity. And no, I’m not giving anything away because it’s in the synopsis.
Other than that, the book was fine. You do get a lot of flashbacks – which can be kind of confusing at first. But once you get to a certain point, it all ties in and makes sense.
I did want to knock some sense into Emma, because come on, she was warned from the beginning that Andrew was married. And even though it was consensual from both parties, it still ticked me off. I guess that’s kind of what you want from a book. Something that will give you a reaction (no matter what it is) and that will make you think about it. And I can honestly say that this book did exactly that for me.
I don’t know much about the author, or what else they have written – but I can say that I was shocked by this experience. This was a 3 Star Book for me, but not because it was terribly written, but because I couldn’t love it.
