I consider myself a dried apricot aficionado. I love slab type cots. Trader Joe's , Hadleys, Harry & David I've tried and eaten them all but I can assure you they are no match in quality, flavor, texture, size and consistency compared to these from Traina Foods. Unbelievable!! You have to try them.
This item was thrown away, it is basically not edible. It was packed in one plastic bag. The dry fruit smells unbearable sulfur. I felt sick after eating one. I speculate that the strong scent make it an ideal item to fend off snakes. It should be NO star if possible.
They were a good size, a little bit more than half the size of my palm. They were moist, and had good flavor. Not as sweet as Trader Joe's white peaches but the size was equal to or greater than. And the value was really great.
These were pricey but tasted pretty fantastic. I am not a fan of the mild and sweet Turkish apricots, much preferring the tart California apricots. These were full of flavor and tart but milder than the Blenheim variety I frequently get. The texture of these were better than other brands and care was clearly put into their process with none of the stems and pit pieces you can find some mass-produced brands. I would definitely buy these again, the price just means I would take extra care to savor them and not eat them all in one sitting.
I lived my first 58 years in Southern California. Our family always looked forward to date harvest season to go and eat yummy dates. We would buy 'date shakes' at Hadleys which were so yummy. I know how a date should taste. I know how the texture should be. I know how moist it should be or dry. I also know how sweet they should be. Granted each variety will be a little different from the other. I bought the 5 pound box and every date is perfect. They are naturally sweet. The texture is good, chewy, moist and delicious. I moved to Idaho and I was missing having dates available to me. In So. Calif. they are sold in all roadside produce stands, and grocery stores. Here in Idaho they have been sold out. The stores failed to order in enough for the holidays. I'm so happy to have found this seller on Amazon.
I really wanted to like these. They are horrible. Taste like green sour unripe peaches, dipped in a surfer kerosine preservative. Absolutely horrid! Never have i ever bought something that taste that bad. Trust me! Unless the seller changes and uses fresh ripe peaches and removes chunks of broken pits that chip your teeth. Seek elsware!
Yum and yum! Bet tasting dried cherries by far. Plump and still retain the tart sweetness and minimum juice (hint). Traina dried cherries has the least amount of sugar content I've found on the marketplace. Delicious! I might even try other dried fruits! Definitely will reorder when this 5 lb box is done (might be a while though). a+
