About the Author
Andy Milroy has been a world authority on Ultramarathon running for over thirty years. He was a founder of the International Association of Ultrarunners and later Technical Director, overseeing international championships. In 1987 seeing there was a need for Ultra training information, he used his extensive contacts to persuade experienced runners to write articles for the original training booklets. In this new book he has aimed to bring this proven advice to a new audience in search of a more demanding running challenge.

Andy Milroy's new book "Training for Ultra Running" (DB Publishing)
is a refreshing collection of days and miles, history, and anecdotes
for a variety of distances or fixed-time events. There are sections
specific to 24-hour or multiday events--very appropriate as there
seems to be a resurgence in interest in track events--and some
interesting pace/speed/what-happens-as-the-day-passes tables
regarding the 24-hour runs. He has done an excellent job of collecting
and presenting the foundation a person needs as training for a first
ultra or maybe changing methods many runs down the road, trail,
