Amazing!
The stock rubber ducky antennas on my Uniden scanners were pretty decent already, I picked up the farther away counties with some static. Now I get those then even farther counties crystal clear! I don’t have it grounded yet just wanted to make sure it worked and it definitely works good, very happy with my purchase! Will more that likely take it down on the super windy days.

Function wise, this works very well. I have it mounted on an eve mount about 15’ up. It is wide-banded and I am now receiving signals I never heard before. Very happy about that. It is well made, and should last many years in the weather. Make sure you tighten the radials well before putting it up.

My only nit to pick is how it mounts. I understand because of the radials it presents mounting challenges, but you are limited to mount it on the top of an antenna pole and run the coax inside. Just be aware of this when you order it.

Amazing! I have a Uniden BCD536HP. This antenna picks up stuff and everything else. And talk about long distance.. I live next to Kings Mountain NC in between mountains. Picks up all airports and planes as clear as can be from Charlotte, Atlanta, Tennessee, to VA! Don't ask how! lol. Truckers on CB, Ham, GMRS, cops and so much more never stops. I did have it about 10' up and moved it to 20' today. Now pick up Florida airport! Crazy huh? And I live in a low spot out here in the boonies. Lots of times I have two ask Alexa where is "sos" at as I don't regonize the county or anything. Will be 80 or farther miles from here! Best scanner antenna I ever had. I use it with RG8X 50'. Get one you won't regret it!

I like this antenna a lot.....its very well made and easy to assemble. I have mine mounted in the attic and use it mostly for 10 meter listening and 700 MHz P25 public safety radio. It's performance on 10 meters is outstanding even though technically that's at the low end of its bandwidth. There's an exellent video on youtube which demonstrates very mediocre SWR across its range but if you're using it strictly for receive that's really not an issue. I have a bank of SDR receivers feeding off this antenna for various bands and its a great setup.

Just put this up with the primary use of amateur 2m, 70cm and occasional 10m and 6m use, and primarily 2m. It's not good for TX on all of those though. I tuned it while still on the roof, using a nanoVNA.

10m - min SWR about 1.4:1 at 28.300 MHz with adjustable sections (at end of each of the extended radials with coils) pushed all the way in. I first tried it without the small sections at all, and it was resonant around 30 MHz. Nice that this antenna can be tuned for not only CB as advertised.

6m - high SWR, and probably nothing I'm going to be able to address with a tuner. That's ok, I have another antenna for the band.

2m - min SWR in the area is about 1.4:1 at 135 MHz and it's part of a resonant range up through 165 MHz or so.. In the 2m band the SWR is around 1.8-2.0:1. Not great but it'll work.

70cm - high SWR like 6m, won't be able to use it to TX on this band. I expected it to have low SWR at least here and up through 1200 MHz (didn't check). If I replace the antenna with a 2m/70cm dual-bander, that'll be the reason.

Last, the vertical element has any effect only on 10m. I also tried removing it when testing the other bands. If I wasn't intending to at least occasionally use this antenna on 10m, I instead recommend the 1410 (which I also bought) for a bit a less, as it should work the same on the higher bands.

Build-wise it's sturdy and as good or better quality than any other commericail discone I've seen and easily went together. Time will tell how it lasts outdoors.

Currently using with Bearcat scanner. increased my coverage area to 30+ miles and the antenna is only up about 7 feet. Not very noticeable for nosey neighbors. I painted the support pole black. the antenna kind of blends into the background at that point.

I use this antenna strictly for receiving VHF/UHF with my SDRPlay RSPdx. After four years of reliable service I can attest to the quality of this antenna for receive purposes. It hasn't had a single problem, successfully making it through searing hot Idaho summers, frigid Idaho winters, and 60mph winds. It's elevated 16' in the air on military surplus masts. Value for this antenna is remarkable. It's receiving performance on the 20-10 meter ham bands was an added bonus. If you want a UHV/VHF receiving antenna, you can't go wrong with the TRAM 1410.
