DevSleep and ISRT
The MTS series of M.2 SSDs offers full support of SATA Device Sleep Mode (DevSleep) and Intel Smart Response Technology (ISRT). Portable computer users often make use of low power states such as standby to avoid having to wait for the operating system to boot back up. However, this comes at the expense of battery life. DevSleep allows compatible mobile devices to completely power off the SATA interface when not in use while maintaining a fast response time of less than 20ms, offering instant-on capabilities akin to a smartphone. With ISRT, users can configure their computer system with an SSD used as cache memory between the hard disk drive and system memory. This provides the advantage of having a hard disk drive for maximum storage capacity while delivering an SSD-like overall system performance experience.

Installation went smoothly into the M.2 socket on my ASUS H97I-Plus. Windows 8.1 found the ssd without any issues and OS installation finished quickly.
Form Factor and Keying
This is their 2280 (22mm in width x 80mm in length) version with "B&M Edge Connector". The "B key" edge is 6-pins wide while the "M key" edge is 5-pins wide. Compatibility was my biggest concern but I decided to give it a try anyway and it worked. It looks like ASUS H97I-Plus M.2 socket can accept both B&M and M key only SSD's.
Performance and Power Consumption
I did not run any disk benchmark programs to verify its claimed 570MB/s Sequential Read and 450MB/s Sequential Write speed (for the 512GB version). But the real world experience is not much different from any other SSD's I have used. SSD's are simply FAST!
Power consumption is very minimal. My HTPC build consists of an ASUS H97I-Plus, Intel Celeron G1850, 2x4GB Kingston HyperX DDR3-1333 modules and this 512GB M.2 SSD. Using P3's P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor, I am seeing average under 20W power consumption for the entire HTPC.
Overall this is a great M.2 SSD for its low cost and great performance. I cannot yet speak for its longevity. 5 stars at this point.
***04/17/2016 Firmware update assistance guide***
After spending weeks digging into the firmware update failing to install per the instructions from Transcend I found a Chinese forum with basic instructions on an alternate way to update the firmware. I decided to build a guide to assist others with an alternate solution. Keep in mind firmware updates are at your own risk and you will have to reinstall Windows if you have it installed to this drive.
Download and install Transcend SSD Scope, go to FW Update, if you don’t have the latest version then it will allow you to hit Download. Once it’s complete it will let you know (the download is rather slow from Transcend so wait). Once completed the software should have made a folder on your C drive called Transcend_SSD_FW_Update_Package (unless you have a D drive then it will default to that drive). Once in the folder you’ll see a N1126KB_TS256GMTS800_TS6500_L95B_QDPD.zip file, extract this file. Once completed open the new folder of the same name and you’ll see an .ISO file N1126KB_TS256GMTS800_TS6500_L95B_ODP (for this example, latest version). You’ll need to extract that file (you can use a program like 7zip if you cannot do so).
Once extracted there is a folder that is called “TCE” open this folder and you’ll see a file called mydata.tgz, copy this file to a USB flash drive. Next you’ll need to download a Linux distribution and use that to install the file. I got this to work once I found Puppy Linux, you can do a google search for tahr-6.0.5_PAE (the first link in google took me to [...]) and download tahr-6.0.5_PAE.iso . Once this is completed use a program of your choice to burn it to a CD. After it is done you’ll want to reboot your PC and ensure it boots to the CD Rom.
After it is done loading you’ll be on the desktop. At the bottom you’ll see an icon for hard drives and flash drives, select the USB flash drive with the mydata.tgz file. Click on that file once and a new box will appear on the screen, click Yes then a new window will pop up and click Yes on that. On the next pop up window hit OK. Next click on the File icon in the upper left hand corner. On the new window click once on the green up arrow. On the next window click once on the “opt” folder. Then click once on JDM_FW_Update_Tool and the firmware update program will launch. It should show your Transcend drive listed, hit Update.
Now at completion you will get a pop up about shutting down so go ahead and allow that to happen. Once it stops at a text prompt you can eject the CD and disconnect the USB flash drive. At this point you will have to reload Windows if your OS is installed to this drive.
