- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2015Capacity: 256GBVerified PurchaseFirstly, I am writing this review for my uses a professional fashion photographer; and am supremely happy with it thus far. Let me explain:
Pros:
1. Slim form factor - absolutely no fear of it breaking in the Macbook's built in SD slot
2. Considerable space for files (and upgradable)
3. Reasonably priced
4. Performance prioritization (put things that do not require fast read/write speeds on the drive)
Neutral:
1. Speed - read speed: competitive with SD peers (was getting 88 MB/s); write speed: was getting peaks near 60 MB/s (though, for most normal purposes expect a bit slower). This is nowhere near what you'd get from a SSD but for my purposes does not impede workflow (loading applications and for those rarely used documents or massive support data files).
it's hard to compare an SD card with the latest in the macbook SSD lineup; they are simply two different tools with two different purposes.
Cons:
1. Cross compatibility - this is very much designed for a purpose. While I don't see it being a problem for my uses, it would be tricky to get this work with an external flash reader given the form factor (though, fundamentally, the contact points are the same as an SD card).
In my line of work, much is focused on workflow and especially so surrounding New York and Paris Fashion Week. Earlier in the summer I purchased a new Macbook Pro and went with one of the smaller hard drives. Sure, I could have gone larger but given that I shoot everything in RAW (25-30 MB/image) and a day of shooting runway can quickly stack up into thousands of images, it's important to establish off-machine storage and back-up.
A key point in all this is the fact that Lightroom does some lovely trickery that allows the editing process to be done independent of connection to original files; though, this 'preview' file can get rather bloated (for me, currently 40GB for 80,000 photos). Being able to hop back and find images quickly from years ago is rather handy. Were something to happen to this file - no problem, just re-generate from the untouched originals. It is worth noting that it does take a little longer for Lightroom to load the file directories on initial application start-up, but once open performance lag is not apparent - loading of original files is just as fast as they are located on the laptop SSD (or external backup).
All this to summarize why I'm so happy with this little drive:
1. everything could be lost on it and nothing, really, would be lost
2. it's not the fastest on the block but it frees up massive space for where I want top performance
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2017Capacity: 128 GBVerified PurchaseI bought several versions of the JetDrive, including this Lite 360. I love the options of being able to select different JetDirve versions for my need, especially the ability to select "longer" version so it is easy to insert or remove the drives from the laptop slots. I have at home MacBook Air 13", MacBook Pro retina 13" and MacBook Pro 15" retina, all of them are mid to late 2013 versions.
For my own MacBook Pro 15", the "correct" version is supposed to be JetDrive Lite 360. However, after checking the specifications on the manufacture's web site, I realized that Lite 350 version is actually a little longer, and many online reviews mentioned that it might be difficult to remove those drives if they fits too tight and close to the edge of the MacBook. Being a frequent digital camera user, I need the SD card slot for my camera memory card downloading. I don't want the hassle of peeling the card off the card slot. The Lite 350 version does stick out about 3 - 4 mm from the slot, but the benefit of easy removal would save me much time and less headache in the long run. So far, I have never experienced any hit or obstruction because of the small extrusion.
Same thing for our MacBook Pro retina 13" which is supposed to use Lite 330, but I got this Lite 360 for it to make sure I have the extra edge sticking out. As a matter of fact, our MacBook Air has to use the Lite 130, the longest version, and it fits snugly right to the edge of the MacBook: so comfortable that it is the hardest one to pull out!
Those cards fit the MacBook SD card slot very tight, and it is very unlikely to accidentally remove or damage by daily use or carrying around. I admit somebody might not like the cosmetic appearance of the sticking out card, but you get another benefits: you can see the printed card size from the stick out strips, making it easy for me to know which card I am using without going through the Finder!
No need to say more about the performance. These cards are very fast, and I have no problem watching full screen HD videos off the drive. I highly recommend it for all MacBook users.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2017Capacity: 128 GBVerified PurchaseI bought the 128GB version of the JetDrive 360 in on 4th May 2015. I have been using it in my late 2014 MacBook Pro ever since, every day, many hours each day. I use this Mac all the time, and I use the JetDrive as a permanently mounted external drive for storage of projects I am working on as well as my iTunes library. It is usually around 80% full and has honestly proved to be 100% reliable. I have been using it through all of the macOS updates since May 2015 and also several pre-release versions of the OS (I am a developer). Now using it with Sierra 10.12.5.
I was looking into buying a 256GB version a moment ago and saw that many of the top reviews for the JetDrive said it has problems unmounting unexpectedly and/or "failing" early and so on. I have not experienced any such problems and just wanted to add my 5-star review for any of you wanting to buy this cute little device. It fits beautifully and is almost flush with the right edge of my MBP.
BTW, I always put my Mac into my shoulder bag with the JetDrive facing up, so that the weight of the Mac is not pressing on it. It may have nothing to do with anything, but I thought I would mention it anyway.

black23mambaReviewed in Italy on July 28, 20145.0 out of 5 stars Eccellente!
