My other 5-star reviews were books I thoroughly enjoyed and was entertained by. This book blew those away. Sure, I get what the detractors are saying about his "language" not sounding like a caveman's, but seriously? Did you want to read a book that said, "Me want mate. Me need food. <grunt, grunt>" To me, using 21st language to explain his thoughts made it relatable, connected me to the characters in a way that left me stunned at the end. I bawled like a baby, read the epilogue, felt so excited and hopeful, and started the book over again that very minute.
You know when people rave about a meal's simplicity? This love story is like that. The emotions expressed were so raw and basic that it reminded me of what love was really about....how *we* have evolved in a relationship sense. It also reminded me how special love is -- like no other book has ever done.
I laughed out loud, cried at the beauty, and marveled at how incredibly this story was told.
Originally I was only going to give this book 3 stars but after I finished it I couldn't stop thinking about the endinging. I loved the ending so much!
Where to start.... Transcendence follows the life of a caveman and his mate. Ehd is a caveman or neanderthal who stumbles across a girl Beh in one of his traps one day. Beh is not from that time so she's scared and confused. This book follows their life together and watches how they overcome obstacles throughout time. Such as language barriers and different hardships life throws in their way. This story was really good, I really enjoyed Ehd alot. He's such a sweet guy who only wanted to do his best to provide the best life he could for Beh. The story is told all in Ehds POV and is so funny, watching him and Beh trying to communicate is hilarious. They just don't understand eachother.
I also loved how sweet this story is. Watching the love grow between Ehd and Beh was beautiful. They truly loved eachother for who they were despite the obvious difference.
Now the only thing I didn't like was that Ehd wasn't fully able to learn language. Yes I know he's a caveman they don't have the ability to do that, but still that would have been nice. The other thing I wished was that we had Behs POV I think it really needed that. I would have loved to know what she was saying and thinking the entire time.
Over all the book was cute and I would recommend it and even read it again.
Shay Savage, you are a LEGEND!! I shall build a shrine around you and praise you every waking hour.
Holy crap is this book good!! Oh my goodness. I just can't get over it!
The beginning of the book may seems frustrating and dragging, but once you get into it, it literally just flies off the pages of the book.
I knew there was something special about the book the moment my eyes landed on this book. Something just captivated and pulled me in when I read the synopsis. It was going to be life changing and quite literally shred me into pieces. I was not wrong. This book is AMAZEBALLS!!! Totally recommend!!!
Now excuse me while I go cry in a corner. Happy reading!~~
