The characters seem very real. When Cadence finds out that she can potentially become a vampire hunter, she reacts the same way I think a lot of people would--with a no thank you. But then she realizes she has to avenge her dead friend, so she does it anyway. I think I'd probably react the same way. The hero, Aaron, is not some flawless Adonis either. Sure, he's hot, but he makes mistakes. The fact that he can't seem to make up his mind about Cadence is very believable and I like that. I also like that we get to know the secondary characters, too. There are some I am really intrigued by and I hope we get to know them better in future installments.
Another reason I think you'll enjoy this book is that it has a little bit of everything. There's romance, mystery, adventure, and some of the dialogue is really, really funny. You don't necessarily have to be a fan of "vampire" books to like this one.
Finally, you can tell a lot of effort went into both the writing and the editing. Don't let the 99 cent price tag fool you--this is a polished novel. Why is it so cheap? I'm not sure. A lot of Johnson's books are priced economically. Maybe she just wants people to read her stuff. And I think you should do just that!
Prior to attending the Eidelon Festival at the behest of her friends Cadence Finley had no reason to concern herself with the Clandestine Ternion. She wasn’t even aware such a thing existed. The Eidelon Festival introduced Cadence to Vampires, Guardians and a part of her identity previously unknown to her. Not only is Cadence a Vampire Hunter but she has the blood of both Guardian and Hunter Leaders pulsing through her veins. She has the potential to be one of the greatest Vampire Hunters in supernatural history.
“The Clandestine Saga” is a fantastic, exciting and fun adventure. The story contains thrills, drama, a bit of romance, some seriously kick azz “girl power” scenes and lots of action. This is a clean, easy and lengthy read. The author has put significant effort into character development and about halfway through you will feel as though you are a part of the Hunter/Guardian team. I felt like I was being trained to hunt Vampires right along with Cadence. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys supernatural stories. It is appropriate for young adults and up and will hold the attention of any age or gender. Very cool read!
