My favorite part of this book is learning the psychological toll from almost drowning. The main character is afraid of water due to a tragedy, yet the water is the only thing that can save him. The love story is also very sweet and understandable. The instant attraction (reminds me of my middle school days), swift protection, and the real love between each of the characters is what keeps me coming back for more.
One of my only suggestions is to lower the price a little. For a book that is barely over a hundred pages isn't really work over $3 after tax. Yet, I will keep following this series until the last installment. I can't help myself when I read about Gabriel suddenly fearing water and having his lover instantly protect him. It's so cute!

2018 seems to be the year of the Merpeople for me! This is the 3rd book I have read featuring them, having not read any before this year. I started off the year reading "The Seafarers kiss" which is a f/f Mer book, then "To Kill a Kingdom" and now "Transformation" which is a m/m fantasy romance featuring Mermen.
This first instalment mainly focuses on Gabriel, his life, how he is changing and the folklore around the Mer, I really liked this aspect of the book. It isn't until the end that we meet Casillus, the love interest.
To be honest, I am partly rating this down as it is only 100 or so pages long, ends on a cliffhanger and then you have to buy the rest of the series (another 4 books) and I think this could have been just one book. The second reason I am rating this only 3 stars is the fact that Gabriel seems a bit clueless when all the clues are so obviously pointing in one direction, Gabriel just ignores them or brushes them aside, this did get very frustrating.
As far as free books go, this is a good read. I would definitely recommend if it sounds like something you would like, just be warned that it does end on a cliffhanger.
Ein toller Anfang der Merman Reihe und kann ohne bedenken weiterempfehlt werden. X3
A big drawback of this Serie is that each volume is really short and there's no closure at all. It seems like the author wrote the book, cut it in many parts (each one consisting a couple of chapters) and presenting These parts as volumes of a serie. So maybe it's better to wait until it's finished and read the whole story together. Oh, and the book (or its parts) are too expensive ...
