"A profound, moving take on faith in an age that often vehemently challenges it."  -Kirkus Reviews

Transforming Faith by Fred Howard

We see the author sharing his perspective with readers, questioning a lot of things that are at times beyond reasoning. The explanation of the various stages of faith from Adopted Faith to Individuating Faith to finally Holistic Faith is quite informative and reiterates the fact that every individual is on their spiritual journey and God works through everyone. The author handles the topic with elan, making his observations and views simple yet profound.

From a review at Spirituality Today:

Anyone who has trodden the spiritual path will know only too well that it is neither straight nor flat, In fact, as Fred Howard has clearly proven in Transforming Faith, the journey one takes in the quest to find personal truth is often circuitous - one that often leads the traveler directly back to the point in the journey from which they initially left!
In this personal account of his trials and tribulations - both personal and spiritual, Fred Howard weaves a most readable and engaging tale.

About the Author

Macon is where it all began for me- in more than one sense.  My birth coincided with the era that defines many of the changes on the contemporary social landscape.  The civil rights movement was just beginning, and I was just old enough to remember when white youth broke the racial barrier by attending concerts at the Macon City Auditorium by hometown notables like Little Richard, Otis Redding, and James Brown.  When I left for college in 1972, I had lived the first seventeen years of my life in the same town, with the same parents and the same friends, and even in the same house.  In today's mobile culture and rapidly shifting economic paradigms, this sort of stability has become more and more of a rarity.  Macon is a part of who I am.  I feel blessed to have had that sort of a childhood in such a place.
