Okay, there is no super nova in the novel, rather a deadly prison planet with one prisoner who is different from the others.
a) He is not actually guilty of the crime that got him sent here to die.
b) And while he is more beast than man when the science mission crashes on the planet, humanity still resides within him.
The same can’t be said for the other criminals on the planet, nor many of those who traveled on the science mission. Lots of bad peeps in this book. And others are a mix of good and bad…you know…normal people.
The name of our hero starts as his prison number: 673, then he allows her to call him Convict, and finally reveals his true name. It symbolizes the change within him.
Bella is an extraordinary heroine: brave, determined, honorable, with a great desire to save others. The entire reason she’s on this risky mission is so she can save her younger siblings from starvation back on Earth. Her generosity and caring for others shows up over and over in the story. You’ll love her!
‘Convict’ is both complex and simple at the first. He looks out only for himself. He has no friends. He trusts no one. But it’s been eight years since he’s had a woman, so he strikes a deal with Bella. She will physically please him on command, and he’ll keep her and the few survivors that remain safe from the deadly animals and the blood thirsty prisoners that roam the planet. He loves no one or nothing. He is hardened from a life of hell.
Yet, from their very first joining, they share pleasure beyond what either had experienced before. Still returning to a human doesn’t occur overnight. Convict fluctuates between loving and angry, gentle and hard.Read more ›
This story has just the right amount of action, romance, danger and angst. I loved how the author build the new futuristic world and the planet 'of death', Dragath25. If I'm honest it does remind me a bit of Mars, with how the atmosphere and landskape is portrayed. Also, the creatures that live there are unique and highly dangerous. I'm pretty sure that without convict 673 aka. Caine's help Bella and the rest of the surviving crew would be death in just a couple of days. Survival on such planet is harsh and unforgiving. Only the strong and smart survive.
"On Dragath25, you take your pleasure where you can, when you can. Because tomorrow you might not be alive to feel anything at all."
I didn't judge Bella for the deal she made with Caine. In fact, I think that was a really smart thing to do. She was a survivor long before she even set foot on Dragath25. Since her early age she had to take care of her siblings and made sure they survived, despite everyone telling her that they will never make it. I love her character. She's a strong, smart, stubborn and passionate woman who has her morals set into stone.
She would never leave her friends behind, no matter how hopeless the situation may seem. Also, she's one bada** chick! Especially near the end I was like, 'Who is she and what have you done with the old Bella?' And don't even get me started on the scorching hot sex scenes. ;)
As for Caine, I felt for him. He was sent to this horrible planet because he was only trying to do the right thing. And look where that got him!Read more ›
The author also does a great job pushing the H/H conflict, leaving it unresolved until the end. The challenges were not trivial and/or extended as a plot device. (Meaning, there was not an obvious solution that the character were ignoring.) As a reader I was confident of a happy ending, but I just couldn't predict WHAT that HEA would look like..
The tone of the story has suspense, passion and tender moments. The danger is gritty without being described in graphic detail. I tend to read more of the comedy-alien abduction stories (I like to laugh through my suspension of disbelief), but the author was able to create a balanced story that never felt like it abruptly changed into erotic. So, no quick or barely-there plot and skimpy world-building just to get to steaming sex scenes.
I definitely recommend this book and can't wait for the next in the series.
Bella has had a hard life having to beg and steal for her two younger sister's on post apocalyptic earth and she is not going to back away from this trade either. Prisoner 673 later known as Caine starts off cold and calculating and I started to get excited about how dark this story may go. However, he softens up quickly and their romance is actually more sweet than sinister-darn. Even though it wasn't as dark as I hoped, it was certainly compelling and steamy. I liked both the characters as likable but complex in their behavior and actions.
The story had the right amount of romance versus action and kept me from wanting to put it down. The writing style is fast pace and written in the perspective from both Bella and Caine so we can get to know them better. I enjoyed it greatly and look forward to more from this author.

This book had a good premise to it, however I didn't feel it was as great as it could have been. The heroine comes off as naive, out to save the world, and seems to believe that... Read morePublished 2 months ago by farmgurl

Nope. Its not a prison gang rape book so feel free to read it. Its more Shawshank Redemption sci fi. You'll be rooting for them to pull it off.Published 2 months ago by Riverside
I was concerned about the title but the contents are well written. The sense of danger is clear and the sex is satisfying. Read morePublished 2 months ago by Booknova
Sexy and smart. The only problem was that I usually read to wind down in bed before going to sleep, but the book perked me up, as opposed to making me sleepy!Published 2 months ago by SFWorkingMom
