Tragedy, loss, violence, deep love of music and of God…perseverance and above all, unwavering faith. These could easily be great elements around which to build a ripping story…and they all exist in just such a story “From Trauma to Triumph: The Carlot Dorvé Story”. Written by Laurie Snyman in the 1st person, as if Carlot had written it himself, the author clearly got very close to the subject and has chosen and very effective device by which Carlot, someone who’s first language is not English, can tell his absorbing story.
Christians are taught that God never tests us or sets tasks for us that are greater than we can handle. The seemingly insurmountable challenges that Carlot Dorvé has had to meet in his relatively short life are a great testament to that belief since, it seems, at no time was he ever left alone to fend for “himself” but at every step there was a “we” involved as God traveled his trying journey with him and provided an amazing array of help along the way. Unlike the man praying on the roof while trapped during a flood, Carlot recognized and accepted that help…and continues to praise God for His unending kindness. Carlot’s story is a wonderful example to all of us, whether we have faith or not, that problems in our lives need not cripple us or stop us from living full lives and achieving our dreams.
If you want to be uplifted and witness many miracles…get this book and enjoy the easy reading style and the amazing story encased within it.
