Editorial Reviews

From the Author

To all of you travelers out there who are eager to explore one of the world's most fascinating countries but don't quite know what to expect when you get there...I know how you feel! This book was written to calm any fears and answer any questions you might have - even those you didn't even know to ask. I approached writing this book as if I was sitting down for coffee with a friend who was about to embark on their first journey to China. It's personal, it's practical, and it's based on over ten years of living and traveling in China. It's basically everything I wish I had known before I first stepped foot in China. I hope you'll enjoy! - Josh

About the Author

Josh Summers first traveled to China with his new bride in the summer of 2006. More than ten years and two kids later, they've had the privilege to visit not only most of the popular China attractions, but also to explore some of the most remote regions that very few travelers get to see.
Josh and his family spent many years living in the western region of Xinjiang, a part of the world that they still consider "home". Josh is the founder and primary contributor to the FarWestChina and TravelChinaCheaper websites, which he still maintains.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, extremely helpful, and fun to read!

I loved the book. I had to wait for a friend to bring it to me, and once I had it in my hands, I practically read it in one sitting! It feels really like chatting to a friend, asking him a bunch of questions about China, and getting many more answers than the questins you originally had. Josh describes his experiences in a very personal yet non-judgemental way, making it easier for you as a reader to decide for yourself. I liked the big fonts and how easy it was to read, but I particularly loved how he covers many topics that I hadn't even anticipated, so at the end of your reading, you have a very clear idea of what traveling to China will be like, plus a bunch of useful links to look into. It's been great help for planning my trip. I am very grateful!
