Ultra-Light Bass with Gigbag
Finally, a bass you can play anywhere.
The Ultra-Light Bass is Traveler Guitar’s lightest, most compact bass offering ever. Weighing just 3 pounds 6.5 ounces and measuring only 33 ¾ inches in length, this 30-inch scale acoustic/electric bass can go anywhere you want to take it.
The proprietary In-Body Tuning System uses standard tuning machines relocated into the body, eliminating the need for a headstock. As a result, you’ll have the same playing experience you’re used to on an instrument that’s 25% shorter and 61% lighter than a typical full-sized bass guitar.
The Ultra-Light Bass features a custom piezo pickup so you can plug into your favorite amplifier, while the built-in thumb rest and removable lap-rest frame allow you play in comfort even in the tightest of spaces. The Ultra-Light Bass is the perfect instrument for traveling players who want a compact, lightweight solution. This is an ideal carry-on bass because it stows easily in airline overhead compartments in its included deluxe gig bag.
Detachable Lap-rest Frame
The Ultra-Light Bass is equipped with standard strap pins as well as a detachable lap-rest frame for comfortable playing while sitting or standing.
The In-Body Tuning System and minimalistic body make the Ultra-Light Bass extremely portable.

These definetly do not sound like traditional bass or guitars. But for just grabbing and playing they are excellent. If you use a wheelchair and or have back issues or if you want something you can take with you anyplace check them out.
The only issue I have is that when it’s in the included bag it looks like it could be an assault riffle. Not a good thing at the VA hospital or the airport 8( I have a regular sized electric guitar gig bag that holds both the bass and the guitar with the included bags perfectly. Both together probably weigh less than a single instrument.
Playing this guitar is also very easy, and I actually like the sound of it too. It has a bit 'metallic' sound, but that will decrease in time normally. I use it with a Korg Pandora guitar processor and headphones, so it completes my small travel intrument kit perfectly. The only thing which I did not like in it, was the thigh support, which is made of slippery stainless steel. It is so slippery, that the instrument does not rest on my thigh, it always slips away. Finally, I wrapped the support in tennis grips, which works fine for me, however this tigh support should be redesigned I think.
But the instrument is a very good choice I think, if you travel a lot and you want to take an instrument with you.
Perfect, thank you travelerguitar.com for creating this!
Now to the bass.
On the plus side...The size is great! I am in the travel business so I need a compact bass.
The pickups are really good...I was somewhat surprised at the volume and clarity.
On the neg side, I wish there was a volume control on the bass...I use this bass with a iRig setup with my iPad. I run the iRig app in the background and play to instructional videos, tracks, or iTunes. It is an absolute pain in the $&: to have to swap back and fourth between apps just to adjust the bass volume. So I bought a passive mixer (no amplification) to connect between the bass and the iRig to "solve" the problem. It ain't the best, but workable.
I found that even with the "lap bar" attached that I still have to wear a guitar strap to keep the bass in position and from slipping while practicing. Not a big deal but was a pain in the &$) the first few times I practiced without a strap.
This bass seems to take much longer to get in tune. Haven't figured out the reason. It just takes longer and it get out of tune much faster than my other bass guitars.
Having said all the above, the 1 star is really directed towards the quality control of the company. Overall, I like the bass as a compact, lightweight, easy-to-transport instrument. Even though I have had to work around a couple issues, it's working for my situation. But do hope that travelers will make so changes with the product. Hope this helps!
It is quite light, I suggest using a strap with it.
Does everything I need it too and more!
