Its been about 9 months now since I started using this wallet, and surprisingly enough, I'm happy to say that it has improved over time in terms of functionality. The tight window-sleeve I talked about is now looser so that I can snugly fit up to 3 cards in it, but still perfectly fine for just one card (Right not I have my drivers license and insurance card inside). The 1st tier pocket also has stretched to allow cards to sit ever so-slightly deeper, allowing more of the 2nd tier pocket to show its contents. Then finally the issue of folded bills sitting too high in the cash pocket subsided and I wasn't experiencing that problem much. I uploaded a picture to help visualize what I mean. As far as build quality, the wallet still looks brand new, just feels better now that the leather (I'm assuming its genuine) is softer. I also want to point out that I have been traveling with this wallet through airport security, placing this RFID blocking wallet through the luggage scanners, with no issues or questions from TSA. I guess the value of the wallet just went up for me.
I'm quite fond of small wallets for various reasons, and was quite happy to find this one with added radio frequency protection. Upon first use, however, my ecstatic opinions did simmer down a bit from my first impressions.
-= Functionality =-
This wallet basically has 4 pockets total. Two of them regular credit card pockets, one expandable pocket, and the last one a window sleeve. I call it a window sleeve because it is pretty tight fitting, even for one card. Its great to hold your driver's license (it doesn't block the borders that much) and it stays in place well, but fitting more than one card will be tough (or at least difficult to pull out). Who knows, maybe it will get looser over time. The two regular credit card pockets are of decent tightness, holding one or two cards each with reasonable snug. The nit-picky issue I have is that the second-tier pocket is a bit low or sits deeper, meaning it doesnt cascade evenly towards the expandable pocket. Put frankly, you won't be able to see much of the contents stashed in the second-tier pocket if you have stuff in the front pocket (See for yourself in one of the Amazon's default images). Finally, most people will probably use the expandable pocket for cash. I was quite surprised to discover that it was expandable first of all, allowing space to fit a fat wad of cash. If it matters, I can fit the thickness of a regular wood pencil. This is possible because at the bottom and sides of this expandable pocket is similar to an accordian-style fold that expands. However due to this, that particular fold protudes into the pocket, which in effects makes it difficult to fully insert cash inside without having the wallet crease the top end of the cash when I fold up the wallet. I'm saying that when I fold cash in half (lengthwise), it fits perfectly width-wise into the pocket, but sits maybe a 1mm or 2mm too high. (Again look at the Amazon picture of the 10 dollar bill, can you imagine folding the wallet without creasing the bill?). Overall size-wise of the wallet is great (small and thin) and leaves a small footprint on your back jeans pocket. As for the RFID-blocking cabability and 1680D Ballastic Nylon fabric, I trust that it works, but I just hope I don't get in a situation where I need those functionalities, especially the ballastic part.
-= Build Quality =-
Build quality is better than I expected. The overall feel of the wallet is outstanding. The nylon fabric is actually soft to the touch and is not stiff. Inside it uses genuine leather (at at least thats what it says), and it feels really soft (so i presume it is). The stitching is made with a single thick thread and looks taught with no strays.
-= Value =-
Over the years and through many gifts, my collection of wallets has unintentionally grown large. But despite the nit-picky drawbacks I mentioned, I still value this one as one of my favorite because of the compact size, simplicity, and special RFID-safe boost of confidence. It's one wallet that is on my shortlist for use during travel.
The foreign cash I always keep on hand goes into the two interior slots in the inside right and left--different currencies on each side (and the current currency stays in my wallet). My free drink chits that the airline gives me go in that slot in front of the passport (but you could also keep business cards here).
And the most awesome thing? My iPhone 6 (not 6 plus) fits in the THIRD interior pocket, just under where you can see the business cards, but in front of the currency slot--there are two on that side. This means, when I go through security--or immigration makes me put my phone away--I just slip the phone in here and my pockets are empty and everything is in one place to pass through the security check! This way you don't accidentally leave anything behind in the bins.
This wallet is AWESOME for a frequent traveller. The size is perfect, and it couldn't do all of these functions if it was even slightly smaller. Don't wait--buy it now.
My wallet smells like a fine leather glove--it's nice. Whatever odor issues people have complained about must have been solved.
