I don't have much capacity of the lung, and cannot blow a balloon.
I just received these.
At the first glance, the valves seemed closed. When I blew as is, no air got into it.
Then, I recalled this valve was described as "one-way."
All I needed to do was to squeeze the bottom of the valve real tight, between the thumb and the index finger.
Then, I was able to inflate the whole thing with only a couple of breath!
Deflating it was easy too, by squeezing the valve again.
The point is to pinch the VERY BOTTOM of the valve; not the soft part but squeeze where the two materials are attached.
Don't destroy the valve with scissors, or you would lose the one-way mechanism and air would leak.
And it's not because the vinyl material gets glued together in a suitcase that makes it impossible to inflate -- as long as you don't put water inside (and it IS almost impossible to do that.)
It would be nice if this simple instruction was included in the box.
The product is made of sturdy materials, and will tolerate many trips.
Anyway, knowing this trick, you all can be happy and ready to many trips to come!
Glad I had already read the reviews, as others mentioned. Inflated/deflated fine if using my teeth to hold nozzle. You would think the mgr. would include those instructions on the box...
Bought 2 sets: one for our road trips, and one for our trip to Paris and abroad. I keep 2 different suitcases packed for: Paris and road trips. On our last road trip the hotel did not have many hangers - I had to confiscate some of my husband's allotted hotel hangers, plus double up some of my clothes. These hangers will nix that prob!
Very smart design, too. Almost bought a similar inflatable hanger - but then I saw this one with the 'bar' and hooks - makes it more versatile.
I was concerned about how well they would flatten after use, but they went back down just fine. Blowing up the first time was a bit tough, but after I poked the inner flap down with a pen cap it was fine. I think maybe the plastic hadn't separated enough to allow the flap to move away when the valve was pinched.
These have earned a permanent place in my travel kit. Even on shorter trips I will take one - you never know when you may have to rinse out a shirt or dry a bathing suit.
My only issue came with finding the 'sweet spot' to bite in the area around the hole to blow up the hangers (which blow up fast when you get it right). Squeezing the area with my arthritic fingers did not work. I suppose air-leakage was the reasoning behind this special blow up portion of the hangers, so on that score it works. But, to have to go through the process every few days was a hassle and not very hygienic for me.

Defective from the start. First one burst at one of the seams within five minutes of inflating it. The second one lasted a day longer. Waste of money.Read more
