About the author

International bestselling author Teyla Branton grew up avidly reading science fiction and fantasy and watching Star Trek reruns with her large family. They lived on a little farm where she loved to visit the solitary cow and collect (and juggle) the eggs, usually making it back to the house with most of them intact. On that same farm she once owned thirty-three gerbils and eighteen cats, not a good mix, as it turns out. Teyla always had her nose in a book and daydreamed about someday creating her own worlds. She is now married, mostly grown up, and has seven kids, including a five-year-old, so life at her house can be very interesting (and loud), but writing keeps her sane. Grabbing any snatch of free time from her hectic life, she escapes to her office to write. She loves guns, martial arts, and belly dancing. Teyla writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and science fiction. She also writes romance and romantic suspense under the name Rachel Branton. I have to admit as much as I enjoyed this series, I am still a huge fan of the Imprints and of course, my all time favorite by her - the Unbounded series. If you have not checked those out yet - I highly reccommend both series.
Loved the characters & seeing them grow.
Suspenseful till the end:)
Thanks for hours of entertainment!
This book tells us how a diverse group of survivors – whose who have been experimented on and can either be useful or a threat to those in control, others simply colonized as workers and still others living underground or on the edge of unsafe radiation zones – meet the challenges of existence years after global destruction while desiring to rid themselves of total enslavement. Their situation is unique (as stories go) but the persistence of the human spirit to be free and to live harmoniously is the common thread that all readers can relate to.
I found my reading experience to be entertaining but a bit difficult due to the formatting - more spacing would make it easier on my eyes and entice me to keep reading. Travels is well-written, however, there are an abundance of characters to keep track of so I needed to take it slow. These are my reasons for one less star. The book concludes without a cliff-hanger. Did they accomplish their goal? Read it and find out.
I received an arc and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Fast-paced, brilliant characters, an original feel, good v evil and a whole lot more, make this a compelling read.
