Traxxas Big Bore Shocks
Traxxas Big Bore shocks are the perfect addition to your Traxxas model for the ultimate in bump and jump control. Hard-anodized aluminum bodies withstand the pressures of massive jumps. PTFE-coated shock bores and titanium-nitride coated shafts offer incredible durability and near frictionless operation for ultra smooth damping and long-lasting performance. Big Bore Shocks are sold fully assembled as a set of four and include springs and shock oil.
Ultimate Suspension Performance for Your Vehicle
Traxxas Big Bore shocks include progressive rate springs for the ultimate in suspension performance. Progressive rate springs offer softer initial travel to absorb minor surface imperfections and keep your tires planted for increased traction. As the spring compresses, the rate firms to keep you from bottoming out when landing jumps. Progressive rate springs provide the best of both worlds. The included springs work best for 2WD Slash models. Other models can reuse the stock springs with the Big Bore shocks.

To empty and clean out shocks with a thicker oil is a process that is part of the hobby...but this can be done with stock suspension and a $3 bottle of shock oil before you drop your cheddar on these. Do not expect big performance gains with these out of the box... I didn't notice any, but my driving surfaces vary the gamut of asphalt/gravel/mud/clay/grass/dogcrap/air so I can't say I have a good control environment for testing.
I would ONLY recommend these if A) your stock shocks are toast, B) you got money to burn and will also buy heavier shock oil.
Run your stock shocks into the ground first. And test with thicker shock oil.
Out of the box, these need a thicker shock oil to see performance over stock.
For the $$ upgrade other parts first, or put towards a new battery.
Once I got them setup, I was really impressed. Fooling around with a high speed rig, I needed very little steering on a forward weight bias. Even though I wasn't using much travel like you would jumping or bashing, doing 80-90mph runs requires handling, dampening and firm traction.
Once I quit fooling with the high speed stuff, they went on a Rustler basher that is usually loaned to some neighborhood kid and smacked off every rock, curb and jump in the area. They have held up great. There are probably better shocks on the market but not at this price point with this level of durability.
If you are trying to decide on which hop ups to do, do these first. These will give your truck the handling required as you add more power.
