I will say, don't get water in the tires. It's nearly impossible to get out once it's in and it causes the tires to imballance which has a huge impact at high-speed runs. Some say to drill holes in the tires, including the manual. The catch is that the tires are foam filled so be sure not to catch the foam and spin it in a knot/lump in the tire.

I'm excited to spend $40 on a metal geared servo now.
UPDATE 3/2/2016: today the Merv was run over by a car. Like completely run over from the back to front, 100% under the front wheels of a 2011 Lexus. Heard a terrible crunch and I thought it was done for. The ony things broken are the wheels from the sheer weight of the car, one of the rear knuckles, and the body mounts. The car still runs and drives. Truely amazed.
Never in my wildest dreams would I expect to be able to get an RTR model that rips as hard as this one, for this price on Amazon, with Prime delivery.
I ran the stock battery for the first rip down the street, then went to a 3S 1000mAh zippy pack I had lying around.
Suffice it to say that 3S LiPo in this car is stupid, dangerous fast. It is awesome. Instant backflip if you give it > 70% throttle off the line.
I got some proper 2Ah 50C 2S LiPos and hacked a Y-cable together, so now it's just borderline out of control, but it'll run for a good while.
Considered -1 point for the NiMh pack, especially since it came with a cigarette lighter 12VDC charger and not something that runs on 110 mains. Buy LiPo and a proper charger.
Have been out of rc hobbies for a number of years. I was always a nitro guy before. Battery power was not able to impress me before. I have 7 nitro trucks 8th & 10th scale rigs.
This 1\16 model is by far the most impressive one I've purchased to date. I'm giving it 4 stars because it has to much power even on a 2s 2000mh lipo and the steering servo is stripping out when held to the left with only about an hour of run time on beginner mode. My daughter was driving it for about 20 minutes when I noticed the servo grinding at full turn. It still steers fine for now but will need a gear set soon. The truck is a little on the pricey side but worth the cost if your into tinkering with rc vehicles.
In closing a few words to the wise, don't waste your money on expensive batteries. Buy two 2k 2s lipos, a wheelie bar and a parallel connector and find a nice open dirt lot.
So says the former nitro fanatic!
