Stampede is still the first name in high-performance monster trucks.

Top customer reviews
-Fast: I can't imagine where a person could responsibly run more than the 30 mph +/- of the Stampede.
-Durable: With the exception of one spectacular midnight collision w/ concrete at full speed, nothing broken yet.
-Adaptable: Training setting is perfect for my 9-yr-old, full power is way too much for him
-Cheap to fix: Replacement parts are available all over town, and they're not expensive
-Cost: At under $200 you won't find better bang for the buck
-Easy to fix: I had no problem replacing a broken chassis ($9 part) in about 20 minutes which required moving every single part from the broken chassis to the new one.
-Waterproof: I'm in rainy Oregon and everything gets wet.
-Titan motor: Maybe I've read too many reviews, but I've heard that the Titan motor that comes with it is prone to overheating and burns out quickly. However, I have not had any problems after running about 15 times, each time for about 25 minutes. The motor gets warm for me, but not hot to the touch.
-2WD: 4WD would definately be more fun, but the extra cost and added difficulty in replacing parts aren't worth it to me. Part of the enjoyment for me is not having to worry about wrecking something really expensive.
-Batteries: Extra batteries are expensive, $45 & up for a 5100mAh battery (NiMH).
-Charger is slow: The stock charger takes 8 hours to charge the 3300mAh battery that comes with it. I bought a peak charger for $30 which speeds that up to about 90 minutes.
The Stampede is a lot of fun. It's faster than I originally expected and I am very pleased with my purchase. My son is saving up his money for one of his own. You definately want to buy the RMP wide front bumper and the wheelie bar. They shouldn't even be optional, you NEED them. One last thing, you might find it even cheaper at your local hobby store. Once I received my Stampede from Amazon, I went to buy a second battery and peak charger and they had it for $10 cheaper than I had just paid to Amazon. If you're new to RC like me, those guys will really help you out with the dumb questions.
The "learning mode" is also a fantastic feature, gives the little ones a shot at 50% speed until they can get used to the steering.. After a week or so he had the hang of it and now runs fairly well in full speed mode.
I personllay prefer "higher end" models, but I would buy a Traxxas for a beginnner 10/10 times
Slow charging battery so that will be my next upgrade.
Box said it comes with 8 "AA" batteries for the transmitter but there was none in the box. What gives seller? Had to head back in town to get some.
My reason for 4 stars and not 5, slow charging battery and truck does tend to flip easily due to high ride height and stiff shocks. They will be upgraded too.
