"This isn't your typical romance where you're positive you're going to get the happy ending you were hoping for at the beginning. It will rip your heart out at times and having you weeping for joy at others. A stunning story about learning to love again and learning when to let go to those you love." ―A Reviewer Top Pick at Night Owl Reviews. Read the full review: http: //bit.ly/uP35HR.
"Treading Water is a definite must read! Treading Water creates an emotional firestorm within the reader. It shines the light on the good and the bad in life and proves that one moment can change everything and it's never too late to find love. Marie Force grabbed my heart and squeezed every ounce of emotion out of it but most importantly her monumental story left me blissful. Treading Water may be fiction but it gives me hope; hope in everyday people and happily ever after. I cannot wait for the next book in this trilogy, Marking Time." ―Joyfully Reviewed, a "Recommended Read" for November 2011!

Okay, I can buy Jack falling in love or lust or whatever anyone wants to call it, thinking his wife is never coming back to him. He's human...sort of. But NO ONE in his family was a wee bit upset that he was moving this woman into his WIFE'S house and bedroom? But Andi only changed things in the bedroom, she didn't touch the rest of the house.... Yay her! The drama possibilities of moving another woman into the same house as 3 hormonal teenaged girls were ENDLESS. Yet another snore fest. Barely a blip on the monitor of this DOA storyline. And the whole rape thing was just so unbelievable I wanted to throw my Kindle. How about she let the car hit her because the day of the accident, Jack says to her "If you want out of this marriage, just let me know." That is also far fetched but better than what the author came up with.
The ending was tied up too fast for me. No drama. No build up and no satisfaction. It was like MF realized how much time she wasted with the beginning of the book, it was time to wrap it up before it got too long. I'm very glad this was a free download (other than the time I wasted reading it).
It changed again about a year later when he met Andi Walsh, the head designer for the new exclusive motel complex he was designing in his hometown. He wasn't looking for love but it found him but it found him. Andi came with a young son, Eric that was deaf and romance grew quickly.
Andi is expecting twins; they return from a vacation to find Clare suffering from a high fever. Jack spends the next fourteen days with Clare at the hospital and when the fever breaks she wakes up after three years and Jack's life gets complicated. Jack is still married to Clare. He is in love with Andi and feels like he is Treading Water with no solution to loving two women.
Treading Water has great characters, the Rhode Island setting is breath taking, the kids are delightful and the family is strong with lots of romance too. If you love a great romance this is it with the impossible situation that Jack finds himself in and the unexpected solution.
Jack Harrington is among my favorite all time characters. He is a man who was broken and found a way to put himself back together again for the sake of his family. He is so real and believable, I can't help but have my heart strings pulled as I experience his journey over again.
Marie Force is a truly talented writer. She not only writes a complete story, but she intricately weaves multiple story lines simultaneously throughout this book. She creates a world I never want to leave and find myself wanting to revisit often. Whether it be the first or the fifth time I have experienced this book, I still find something new to love about it.
PS - Holly Fielding only enhances Marie's talents as an author with the narration of Treading Water. She is able to portray each character uniquely. I can't wait to listen to more from her.
SPOILER ALERT!! Do not read any further if you don't want to know the whole story summed up!
We are supposed to love a story in which a SUPPOSEDLY loving, faithful husband starts cheating on his wife after she's been in a coma for a year? And we're also supposed to believe that all of his kids are perfectly ok with it? Really? One daughter is semi-not ok with it for about one day, then she's suddenly perfectly ok with it too!? A new woman moving right into their home while their mother is in a coma is just great with everybody? Yeah, ok!
This book disgusted me from the minute he started cheating but the fact that I just so hoped that he would redeem himself is the only reason I continued on with it. What happened is quite the polar opposite, it gets worse than everybody just accepting and loving the mistress. So the wife wakes up from her coma and is mad and hurt when she finds out what has been going on but get this, everybody gets mad at her for getting mad at him.. Again, really? So she just accepts it too and even likes the mistress too...(!!!!!) and divorces him so that her husband and his mistress can live happily ever after. Yeah right.
Anyone that thinks this is a good love story has sick relationship ideas. It is by far one of the worst books I've ever read.
