"This isn't your typical romance where you're positive you're going to get the happy ending you were hoping for at the beginning. It will rip your heart out at times and having you weeping for joy at others. A stunning story about learning to love again and learning when to let go to those you love." ―A Reviewer Top Pick at Night Owl Reviews. Read the full review: http: //bit.ly/uP35HR.
"Treading Water is a definite must read! Treading Water creates an emotional firestorm within the reader. It shines the light on the good and the bad in life and proves that one moment can change everything and it's never too late to find love. Marie Force grabbed my heart and squeezed every ounce of emotion out of it but most importantly her monumental story left me blissful. Treading Water may be fiction but it gives me hope; hope in everyday people and happily ever after. I cannot wait for the next book in this trilogy, Marking Time." ―Joyfully Reviewed, a "Recommended Read" for November 2011!

Okay, I can buy Jack falling in love or lust or whatever anyone wants to call it, thinking his wife is never coming back to him. He's human...sort of. But NO ONE in his family was a wee bit upset that he was moving this woman into his WIFE'S house and bedroom? But Andi only changed things in the bedroom, she didn't touch the rest of the house.... Yay her! The drama possibilities of moving another woman into the same house as 3 hormonal teenaged girls were ENDLESS. Yet another snore fest. Barely a blip on the monitor of this DOA storyline. And the whole rape thing was just so unbelievable I wanted to throw my Kindle. How about she let the car hit her because the day of the accident, Jack says to her "If you want out of this marriage, just let me know." That is also far fetched but better than what the author came up with.
The ending was tied up too fast for me. No drama. No build up and no satisfaction. It was like MF realized how much time she wasted with the beginning of the book, it was time to wrap it up before it got too long. I'm very glad this was a free download (other than the time I wasted reading it).
Jack Harrington, architect, was playing golf when he received a phone call that would forever change his life. His wife, Clare was hit by a speeding car in the mall parking lot while she was shopping with her daughters. She had severe traumatic brain injury from the accident and her doctors didn't expect her to wake up from her coma. Jack wouldn't accept that, so he moved Clare from the hospital with her bed, machines, and nurses into the family home. Jack's sister, Frannie, moved in to help raise her 3 nieces, but when the girls attitudes became worse when they were home and they stopped bringing friends over; Frannie had a sit down with her brother. Clare needed to be moved elsewhere, it was affecting everyones progress to move on. So Jack bought a condo 5 minutes away, with 24 hour nurses. After Clare was out of the house, Jack went back to work.
His firm was hired for a new project, after spending months on the phone with the project manager, Andi Walsh, Jack finally gets to meet her when she comes to visit the area. The 2 hit it off famously, Jack has never felt these feelings he has for Andi before. He knows that he's in love with her already; she loves him as well. But it's still a long distance relationship.
They try to see one another at least once a month, and holidays. He can't move, yet he really can't make any promises to Andi. So, she moves to Rhode Island for him; and it's amazing, until it's not.
I cried, got so mad at Jack, and wished things were different. But I didn't once regret reading this book. This is one of those books that you will re-read over and over again.
It changed again about a year later when he met Andi Walsh, the head designer for the new exclusive motel complex he was designing in his hometown. He wasn't looking for love but it found him but it found him. Andi came with a young son, Eric that was deaf and romance grew quickly.
Andi is expecting twins; they return from a vacation to find Clare suffering from a high fever. Jack spends the next fourteen days with Clare at the hospital and when the fever breaks she wakes up after three years and Jack's life gets complicated. Jack is still married to Clare. He is in love with Andi and feels like he is Treading Water with no solution to loving two women.
Treading Water has great characters, the Rhode Island setting is breath taking, the kids are delightful and the family is strong with lots of romance too. If you love a great romance this is it with the impossible situation that Jack finds himself in and the unexpected solution.
Jack Harrington is among my favorite all time characters. He is a man who was broken and found a way to put himself back together again for the sake of his family. He is so real and believable, I can't help but have my heart strings pulled as I experience his journey over again.
Marie Force is a truly talented writer. She not only writes a complete story, but she intricately weaves multiple story lines simultaneously throughout this book. She creates a world I never want to leave and find myself wanting to revisit often. Whether it be the first or the fifth time I have experienced this book, I still find something new to love about it.
PS - Holly Fielding only enhances Marie's talents as an author with the narration of Treading Water. She is able to portray each character uniquely. I can't wait to listen to more from her.
