About the Author
Dr. Richard L. Morgan earned degrees from Davidson College, Wake Forest University, and Union Theological Seminary, including an MA in Counseling and a PhD in Early Christian History. He served pastorates in West Virginia and North Carolina, where he was named 'Man of the Year' for his work with older adults in Lenoir, NC. He served as professor of Religion at Peace College, Raleigh, NC and Presbyterian College, SC, taught Psychology at Mitchell Community College, Statesville, NC and was Director of Counseling at Western Piedmont Community College, Morganton, NC. He did his Certified Pastoral Education work under the auspices of the Baptist Hospital Pastoral Care department. After his retirement, Dr. Morgan has written 14 books, including the best seller, "No Act of Love is Ever Wasted: Spiritual Care for People with Dementia," co-authored by Dr. Jane Thibault. His latest book is "At the Edge of Life; Conversations When Death is Near." He also served on the editorial board of "Seasons of Caring." Dr. Morgan was recipient of the 2013 Legacy Award from the Older Adult Ministry Network of the Presbyterian Church, USA, for a lifetime of service. At present, Dr. Morgan is a resident at Redstone Highlands, a continuing care retirement community near Pittsburgh, PA. He continues his writing and is highly involved with doing Life Bios for independent living residents and worship and pastoral care for persons with Dementia. Potts, MD, FAAN is a noted neurologist, author, educator, and champion of those with Dementia and their caregivers. He was chosen by the American Academy of Neurology as the 2008 Donald M. Palatucci Advocate of the Year, serves as an AAN national media spokesperson for Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of Dementia, and is a faculty member at both medical schools in his home state of Alabama. Inspired by his father’s transformation from sawmiller to watercolor artist in the throes of Alzheimer’s disease, Dr. Potts formed Cognitive Dynamics, a foundation dedicated to quality of life improvement through the arts. With his wife, Ellen W. Potts, he authored "A Pocket Guide for the Alzheimer’s Care Giver."
