My two grandsons, ages 5 and 7, are fascinated by adventure, swords, treasure, and secrets. I picked up the first two volumes of Treasure Island in this series because I thought they would enjoy reading them aloud themselves. They love them! We read them together, their parents read them with them, and we all are eager for more of the story to be published. All this so we can delve into Stevenson's original together in the very near future, maybe as early as next summer. Hurry with the rest of the story, please.

Great to read to kids who want a little more than picture books. It seemed like my 4.5 year old was looking for a longer story although he loves to read almost anything. Also great for kids to read. Loved the pictures and I thought they did well summarizing for a younger age group.

I wasn't too impressed with this series. I felt there were too fast of a read for my 5 year old. I would have read these to him when he was 3 or 4. They take about 10 minutes to read each book, and for me too much of the story is left out of these books (they even leave out "yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!"). The illustrations were uninspiring. I did my best to keep his interest with all my pirate voice impersonations. He seemed to enjoy that the most.

Next I'll be looking for the Treasure Island title in a child's book that really captures the essence of the story and better illustrations so I can share this incredible story with my son. So far no luck on my search on Amazon.

My seven year old son doesn't like to read and does so only after lots of moaning and groaning. We checked out the first two volumes of this set from the library, and after we read the first one, he INSISTED on reading the second one right then and there! (I think he really identifies with the main character-- Jim-- who seems to be just about my son's age.) Tonight at bedtime my son asked me if we could go to the library tomorrow and check out the other available volumes. I really never thought I'd see the day my son would be excited about reading!! Wish there were more than 6.

My grandson is 9 years old and struggles with dyslexia, he gets so tired of reading "baby" books for practice. So this was his first "chapter" book and he loved it. The art work is great and appeals well to boys!

Not only do my grandsons aged 5 and 7 love the adventure in this retelling of Stevensons' classic, the illustrations are delightful. We can't wait for more installments. I believe the original writing is always the best, but these simple tellings serve as a great beginning to the real thing. Besides, they can read them themselves.

We love this easy to read series of Treasure Island but it is incomplete. I contacted the publisher and waited almost 1 month to hear back. The only reply was they did not know when the next book to complete the story would come out. That's a shame. My son loved reading these.
