Loving God Enough to Break the Rules
“What a refreshing and surprising book! Until I read Treasured, I never considered how a few easily overlooked things in Scripture could have such power to help us know God more truly and intimately.
With delightful prose and biblically shaped wisdom, Leigh McLeroy leads us into a deeper encounter with our living, loving God.”
—DR.MARK D. ROBERTS, senior director
and scholar-in-residence for Laity Lodge
“I enjoyed watching [Leigh McLeroy] deftly polish the treasures God might keep in His memory box. She helped me notice God’s engagement with us. If God feels distant to you, Treasured will imaginatively and biblically illustrate His tenderness.”

I love the way she crafts her words and thoughts, and by combining Biblical truth with her own experiences, Leigh brings a fresh relevancy to timeless truths. The raw spots in my own life made the chapters on "The God Who Sees" and "The God Who Gleans Joy from Sorrow" especially powerful ~ but every point she makes will touch the heart of many as we all "fall short"...
TREASURED is the perfect Christmas, birthday, or anytime gift and I, for one, am stocked up for the holidays. It's an easy read, a thoughtful read, a "wow, who-puts-words-together-like-that" read, and most importantly, a "thank you, God, for treasuring me" read. My amazing little book pick for 2009...
About half way through the book Leigh shares with us her sister's battle with cancer. I especially love her choice of action packed words in describing the last enemy to be destroyed and that is death. Leigh goes on to say, "I hate cancer. It's an enemy with no manners, no mercy and no predictable pattern of attack... take that, cancer. You're an awful bully but you cannot win."
Leigh McLeroy ties up her journey of drawing close to God by speaking of the grand architect, of knowing her shepherd's voice and believing with full assurance of His love for her. So what tokens or keepsakes would you collect in your treasure box that would forever remind you of God's love for you? I hope you will consider the book for renewed hope and inspiration. I love the book. 5+ stars!
Woven in the words of these pages are pieces of the Bible, glimpses of God's treasures. From collecting His very first treasure-Adam and Eve's first coverings to His scarlet robe stained crimson red by blood, to His most loved and precious treasure-us, His children.
Through the many examples McLeroy uses, they can be compared to instances of near similarity in the Bible, showing us of the many treasures God has collected.
I definitely would tell someone who is feeling down about themselves, or ashamed in some way, to down with a copy of Leigh McLeroy's Treasured. It is worth the time and, like me, I'm sure you will walk away with a changed heart and attitude, or atleast feeling that you are truly one of God's treasured gifts!
Definitely 5 stars!!!
