Tres esquejes de col de árbol púrpura recién cortados enviados desde nuestro vivero certificado de CA. Las coles moradas son un vegetal perenne relacionado con la col verde. Pueden alcanzar más de ocho pies de altura y continuarán creciendo y produciendo año tras año. Pueden sobrevivir a temperaturas de hasta alrededor de 20 grados. En regiones más frías se pueden cultivar como anuales. Muchas personas encuentran que el sabor de las coles de árbol púrpura es superior a las hojas verdes tradicionales y tienden a ser más resistentes a enfermedades y plagas. A los pollos y los patos, a los ciervos, a los caballos y a las cabras les encantan las coles de Estas plantas notables se pueden cosechar durante todo el año y son deliciosas salteadas, mezcladas en batidos o sopas, deshidratadas en papas fritas. So I got three cuttings and only one has started to grow with vigor. But they are alive. They have enough life in them to spring back after USPS goofed up and held them. They look like my pics which the seller should think about updating and they could have set a better expectation and got 5 stars.

    Healthy cuttings! Already growing! Be sure to have good potting soil and 3 large flower pots on hand for when they arrive. Update: 4/16/18: The plant I transplanted outside during cold weather is still alive and purple but has not grown much. I hope it will have a growth spurt soon. It is a deep purple color. The other 2 I kept inside (due to cold weather) were healthy for quite a while (green color) but then suddenly died and dried up. I think they needed more sunlight.

    I got these rooted in water. It was super easy and took less than a month.

    If you have never rooted something in water here are the steps:
    1) Make sure to have a sharp, angled cut at the base of the stalk. Some people then dip the end in rooting hormone but I have never needed it for leafy green things as they tend to like to sprout new roots anyways. (this has worked for lemongrass, onions, sweet potatoes and others for me).
    2) Place in a jar/glass of clean water. You don't need to fill it to the top by any means, just a few inches at the bottom. A clear glass is best so that you can see any new root growth or dirty water, but not necessary. You can reuse pasta jars or whatever you have around.
    3) Place near a window that gets some light but not direct glaring afternoon sun, or under grow lights. A lot of sun is not necessary, but I found that plants near some kind of light source fair better with rooting than those just in the middle of our house.
    4) Remember to replace the water in the jar daily or at least every few days. You will start to notice that the plants aren't wilting, and you may even notice new leaf growth. The next part you will notice is roots coming out the bottom.
    5) Keep replacing the water daily or every few days. This is really the most important part as dirty water will let mold and other contaminants sicken the plants and they will die. You can get away will less sunlight if you just stick to clean water and you should still find success.

    Mine are in a pot all together now, as my space is limited until I make sure they are rooted and growing. They are putting out some new leaves now. All 3 are alive, which is wonderful. I plan to keep one, give another to my cousin and plant the third at a homeless shelter who is forming a garden. These plants can last a very long time and you can continue to get new cuttings from them. They are a WONDERFUL source of nutrition and here in Tampa, FL we can grow them year round.

    I loved that this company has a Youtube channel with a few videos showing the plants, how to root them in soil, how to prune them etc. and that they included this information in the package was brilliant. It will be very helpful to a lot of people just starting out with such a plant. You can always look on the side of the page when watching their videos and see how other people grow their tree collards.

    I am greatly looking forward to the future with these plants and am incredibly pleased with how they arrived and how well they rooted. Looking forward to tasting them soon!

    Received 3 healthy cuttings- Followed directions for planting and one died within a week. The other two have survived after a month but now both appear to be withering and dying, despite a tiny new growth on one of the cuttings. Apparently this plant is not meant for me and for the record, I've been gardening for over 20+ years, mostly successful, but some I win and some I don't. Don't be discouraged by this review, the cuttings are healthy but do not easily root- They require a more controlled environment until established. I protected them outdoors from the AZ sun but should of started them indoors first. Expensive lesson!

    Unfortunately, these were delivered into my mail box on a hot day so most did not survive. One plant survived and took root and looks great. I will try again-BEFORE it gets hot. Still excited about them, and may upgrade my rating after my tree collard is big enough to begin producing.

    I'm surprised no one commented on the smell. When watering these, a sulfur like smell emits from the plants. It can literally envelope an entire room. I planted all of them around the same time, and they spontaneously died after having growing leaves and looking fairly healthy. The leaves begin to rot at the tips, enhancing the plants sulfuric smell, and then they just go brown with a day or two and collapse leaving nothing but a hollow stalk. I wish I could leave a better review, but 3 out of 3 suffered the same fate.

    They are growing quicker than the instructions stated, which were easy to follow and well written. They already had leaves on them when they arrived, so instead of keeping them in the shade as the directions stated, I placed them facing west in partial shade/sun. Slow growing but they will become giants and a great addition to a healthy, organic way to eat! Everyone needs to become responsible for their own food intake in this day and age. Growing a small garden is a great way to start.

    Reiceved 5-6 cuttings 2 grew very big.Still winning I'm in Vegas and it has been 120% heat past few weeks still the two are big and thriving. I have harvested this planet three times and it keeps right on give me delicious collar greens.

    I have many tree collards now , I bought the cuttings last summer , I live in north fl. They all made through the winter ! yes they can make it in a freeze , they turned dark purple and tasted better after the cold . Now , I have many in pots to give away , you really just need one to take off , then you go from there . It is a great buy , plus it's very pretty !
