About the Book...
Somewhere in the writing of this book, I realized that it was not, could not, be the conclusion to this saga. Originally planned as a trilogy, Jefferson's Road has quickly outgrown the limitations three books would place on it.
In this novel, Peter completes the transformation begun in the first book, moving from passive patriot to active leader in the resistance. I won't say more lest I give it away, but it did surprise me to see the changes wrought in him as he grew.
I hope you enjoy it.

Tree Of Liberty is a pretty dark episode in the Jefferson's Road series, though none could be labeled "light-hearted", to be sure. The plot continues to unfold, and turn, and new players are revealed, and old, familiar ones are further revealed as Michael Scott does a great job of allowing the reader to discover the story through Peter's eyes as he learns--and/or causes--each new piece.
Sadly, much of the "dark" plot parallels events which are "unfolding" around us in the real world. Yikes.
This third installment is fast-paced, and certainly could be accurately labeled a "page turner". The end will once again leave you hanging... badly! But the author has been clear that each of these books is part of a larger series, now half complete. I look forward to the next book: God and Country.

Michael has done his usual excellent job of presenting the reader with a hard-hitting action packed story. Told in the first person our hero Peter Baird take us through some hair raising events as the story unfolds. The time spent on researching the elements in this book is obvious to the reader. The locale, chemistry , tactics and historic facts are all presented in an understandable way so that even a senior citizen like myself can grasp it.
I have read the first two books in this series and appreciate the consistency of his characters and the seamless construction of the story line. It is as if each book is simply continuing chapters of the previous one.
Kudos Mike, Good job!
