ugh.

Pros:
The funnel and tube work. (you could make this yourself for pennies.)

Cons:
The tube really is too short but no biggie - at least you're not crawling under the tree to add water.
The directions are pretty vague and if it worked like it is supposed to that would be okay, but it doesn't so the directions kind of suck.
The over fill alert sounds like a doorbell chime. Not fun if you have have dogs.

Major Cons:
When your tree needs water it "plays Jingle Bells every ten minutes" at least that what the instructions say. Mine plays every ONE minute.
"Wait 5 seconds after 'Jingle Bells' then add the water." I count slowly to 10 (just to make sure) and add the water. The second the water hits the sensor it plays 'Jingle Bells' again.
If I want to add water before I go to bed to make sure I'm not waking up at 2am to 'Jingle Bells', the over fill sensor doesn't work - it only seems to work if it has played 'Jingle Bells' first. (I learned this the hard way.)
The warranty cost ten bucks - thats half the price of this item. Really? I need to pay the company to replace their piece of junk? Nope - no way. I'll cut my losses right here thank you.

P.S. I find it curious that 'customers' that have never written reviews before or never have even hit the helpful button on any review (as of todays date: 12/30/2011) would give glowing 5 star reviews - and all using as many exclamations points as possible. Just sayin'.

The tube on this is too short, it has to be installed on the opposite side as the probe, and I could see that installation was going to require incredible and excessive amounts of climbing around under and through the tree (exactly what I was hoping to avoid). Plus I could not figure out how to attach the small funnel for pouring water in a place I could reach but where it would be secure. So I tossed the whole product. I have to agree with the other reviewer who said it was an interesting idea but not well executed. I had a previous product - a pair of "santa boots" that sat off to the side of the tree and had a tube that ran into the base by syphon effect. They worked pretty well with almost no set-up hassle. They were a bit tricky to get set right so the siphon worked, but if I can find them, I will go back to using them.... or find a similar product.

I followed the directions for use exactly but the item does not work correctly. It plays Jingle Bells when the water level is low, but instead of playing once every 10 minutes, it plays constantly. I add water to the tree stand, but when it chimes to indicate the tree stand is full, the chimes plays constantly and only stops when the batteries are removed from the device. Update: I called the manufacturer and they immediately shipped me a new one. This one does work and I am very pleased with it.

I purchased this item for this past holiday season. It was my first time with my own tree so I wanted to make sure it lasted until Christmas. One of my least favorite things is crawling under the tree to check to see if it needs water and to water the tree. This invention for the reason you no longer have to do that alone is worth it. I love the ease of using the funnel and tube in the back branches of the tree to fill my stand.

The unit itself seems fairly well built. The tube was a little hard to straighten out at first but after running hot water through it for a couple of minutes it was no longer as stiff and easier to straighten out. After installing the unit I was eager to try it out. I filled the tree stand until the unit chimed and was excited to hear it working. Then it chimed again...and again...and again. I didn't know what was wrong. Turns out I had a defective unit. I called the company's phone number I got off their website and talked to someone (I think it was the inventor) and he was very customer friendly and overnight-ed my another unit free of charge no questions asked and no need to return the defective unit. This was even with purchasing it through amazon. The new unit worked great as advertised. Chimed when full and played jingle bells when low. I have to admit, I didn't let it get low enough to for jingle bells to chime while on the tree just because I found it easy enough to water my tree every couple of days. The fill chime is what is the most worth to me.

Overall, I think this product is great. I do think the method of fastening the unit to the tree could be improved on as the Velcro was hard to get on the tree and stay in the exact spot I wanted for the sensors to read correctly. Other than that, it was great and made taking care of my tree a lot more enjoyable.

I reviewed all kinds of watering systems for our xmas tree. The hose was fairly short and didn't stay in place (which makes a big big mess). Also, the plastic tubing comes FOLDED, which means it has a fairly permanent crease that requires you to hold/squeeze that spot when you water or else it overflows from the the funnel. UGH!

Also, the alarm definitely didn't work. It either didn't work at all (90% of the time) or just made non-stop crazy sounds irrespective of the true water level. Tried adjusting it over and over again, no luck. I do NOT recommend this.
