Editorial Reviews

Everyone has already forgotten about the existence of such music thinking it to be hopelessly outdated and obviously irrelevant. But Sang Sattawood made a very unusual product that combines the seemingly incompatible things such as traditional garage riffs, typical of the early '70s, elements of swing, blues and even the heyday of the California rock psychedelia.
The «Tree» album has its roots in rock history, but it feeds on fresh and healthy juices. The vocalist Kate Usova admits: “I had come up with this name before our demo was released. The album is dedicated to forest issues that is reflected in the sound... We got quite a rare combination in a result: garage, psychedelic, ambient, foggy and forest sound. It can be said, black and white sound with floating focus.” And indeed, «One Way» for example can be referred to the area of psychedelics, while listening «I Said» you can catch the influence of jazz. «Child's Highland» keeps focus in on the strange guitar riff, and «The Thanatonautes» suddenly recalls almost rhythmic swing. The album is closed with «Rising Sun» perhaps the most distinctive and figurative song which perfectly corresponds to the vision of the album reflected in its name: songs of the album, taken together, appear in front of you as old and mysterious forest where adventures and surprises are hidden behind every plant.
