Editorial Reviews

Review

What Amazon reviewers are saying: This stands right up there with The Hunger Games as one of my favorite dystopian worlds ever. The writing is top notch, the tension never lets up, and the characters are deep and real. I can't wait to start on the second installment! Rozelle's The Treemakers has to be one of the best book series I have read in a very long ...If I could give it 10 stars I would. Christina L. Rozelle's The Treemakers has to be one of the best book series I have read in a very long time. Never have I cheered for characters so hard in my entire reading life. These books are not for the faint of heart. The truly ugly side of human nature is showcased at its prime and the perverse and sadistic treatment of our most precious resource, children, is heart wrenching. As I read Rozelle's words I shuddered and cried for the little hands and hearts of the Treemakers. I have had to sit and think of the words to describe these books in this series because frankly they left a very deep mark on me and as an avid reader that fact leaves me in awe. Joy Montgomery or Momma Joy as most know her is as strong a character as they come in heart, spirit, and action. I absolutely loved this book and the entire series. This is one of the best Young Adult Dystopian Science fiction books I have read in YEARS!!! 5 Stars! Everything about this book is amazing. Christina L. Rozelle truly has a gift and I am extremely impressed at how vivid her descriptions are and how I was instantly able to form a highly detailed picture in my mind of what both the Tree Factory and what each of the characters looked like. In fact, this book would make an excellent movie which I truly believe would make the film company that produces it millions of dollars. Riveting! This was a spectacular journey and one that kept me up late at night reading "just one more chapter, just one more". The author creates compelling characters with realistic horrors they are experiencing to the point it's impossible not to bond with them. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat and leaves you wanting more. Well done. An epic and terrible tale of survival against all odds! I have not been this sucked into a book in a long time, I may have even run into a wall with my kindle in my face because I just couldn't put it down. But this book is not for the faint of heart, a post apoc dystopia that will leave you reeling! And wanting more!! Wow Just Wow!!! This has to be the most unique story I have ever read in my life and I read a lot of stories. I read a book a day and this book has me in such awe! Once I picked it up I could not put it down. I don't like to give a plot away, but there is so much to be said about this book. I got lost in this book. She describes this world and I get sucked in and I can't escape it. The characters are so well described I can almost see them in my head. The emotions that each of them feel I can feel right along with them.  Great YA Dystopian Tale~A Refreshing New Voice The Treemakers, by Christina Rozelle is one of the most refreshingly new and exciting YA dystopians I've listened to for a long time. It is a vivid tale of strength, loss, renewal, courage but most of all self-discovery.... Ms. Rozelle's characters are her strength as is her ability to create an amazingly real plot with her smooth and descriptive prose. I was living that story with those kids, laughing and crying, holding my breath, cheering and jumping for "Joy" as she and her friends brave adventure after heart-pounding adventure.  Wowza! What an amazing story! I can't say enough about this wonderful, dark , gritty, and blissful piece of literature! Treemakers gripped me from beginning to end and I am eagerly awaiting the next in this series... a must read people! Rozelle is my spirit animal!Christina Rozelle is easily one of my go to favorite authors! I was very skeptical at first about reading a YA dystopian book but I enjoyed it immensely. This was my first read from Rozelle. I don't think I have ever finished a book so fast in my life! The ups and downs and twists will have you on your toes the entire time. The characters are unforgettable and amazing. Even the ones you hate! I laughed , I cried, I really pictured and felt as if I was there experiencing it all right along with Joy and the others. Awesome Dystopian Tale! This book was so good! The characters were so believable and the storyline was completely addictive. Couldn't wait to get started on the second book! Definitely a must read! Attention sci-fi and/or Dystopian readers-This book's for you!!I loved this book! It was definitely unique, and widly imaginative! It happily was never predictable! It was dark, with blood and death, which really made it more real to me. Life isn't perfect and everything doesn't always work out. I am very connected to very well-developed characters! It doesn't hurt that the spelling was correct and the grammar!! I should spend more time on a glowing review, but I am here to buy the next book! Christina L. Rozelle-one happy reader luvs ya!!! Do not miss this GREAT read! This is a fantastic trilogy, one of the best I've read in years. It has everything one could want in a YA dystopian story, it will blow you away, an excellent mix of fantasy with believable characters. Surprisingly goodI seldom find a book worth five stars but this one captured my interest in a surprising way. It is listed as young adult and I am an old adult. I am very picky about the sci-fi that I read and I am glad I gave this one a chance. I found it to be very complex, imaginative, well written and extremely enjoyable. These are not terms that I use lightly in writing a review. It is full of twists and turns and somewhat unexpected results.  I am so glad I stumbled upon this series! It is so good, I hope it becomes a NY Times Best Seller. I have told many friends about this series. It was captivating from the first page. I enjoy the characters and the descriptive narrative the author uses. A story about tragedy, hope, perseverance, love and friendship. I love that there was always something unexpected around the next page. It's exciting and I did not want to put it down. Remarkable Read!I just finished the first of this trilogy and can't wait to read the next one. The imagery, emotion, and realistic cruelty stir up all our feelings. I'm amazed at the bravery, strength, and love among these kids as they go through all they deal with not knowing if they will ever escape the lives they are forced to lead. No one would be disappointed reading this story! I read it, I loved it, I reviewed it. YOUR TURNBuy this book. Buy a shadowbox. Read this book. Put book in shadowbox. Hang shadowbox on wall. It is now what is should be. Artistic in nature, smooth flow, deep and complex. Multi-layered world, and lush descriptions, characters are well fleshed out, just a work of art.... Think "Oliver" in a futuristic destruction of the world setting. This book grabs you right from the beginning and doesn't let go. The characters are so well written you have an emotional connection to them right away. Some you like and root for, others you despise and hope they fail. Rozelle packs so much emotion into this story that it also becomes part of the reading experience. The struggles of these children are heart breaking, but they are making the best they can of their lives. One reviewer called it a work of art, I would have to agree. Bound to become a classic in this genre. Definitely a must for your library. Unbelievably goodOne of the best fantasy books I have ever read, so real it can not be put down xxx Finished the whole series in 1 day!!!! Excellent read.

Update, regarding the release of the author's latest novel, "Angels in the End."
DEAR READER,

"Angels in the End," though written for adults, and in a separate series altogether, is also an *unofficial*
Treemakers Trilogy prequel. Unofficial, because the author has plans for a future YA prequel more closely related to that series, but readers 18+ who have enjoyed The Treemakers Trilogy will find the value in "Angels in the End," (and the rest of the series) as certain events contained herein are directly linked to The Treemakers Trilogy. Please read below.

**Content Advisory/Trigger Warning for The End SagaDue to the inclusion of realistic world-ending scenarios, such as death/gore/torture/violence/steamy scenes/sexual violence/drug/alcohol use/abuse, and because of explicit language, this series is recommended for readers age 18+, and those who aren't sensitive to these topics. Reader discretion is advised.

**It is recommended that this book/series be read
after having read The Treemakers Trilogy, as "Angels in the End" may contain some spoilers for that story.

**Please note:
the content in this 4th installment of The End Saga is considerably "cleaner" than the first three books in the series, due to it being from the POV of (mostly) different characters, as well as for its connection to the author's YA series, The Treemakers Trilogy.

Christina L. Rozelle is the author of the bestselling YA Dystopian Scifi series, The Treemakers Trilogy, which includes her groundbreaking debut, “The Treemakers,” and its sequels, “The Soultakers,” and “The Seeker’s Keys.” Hailed for its strong, believable, and relatable characters, original and complex plotting, and phenomenal world-building, The Treemakers Trilogy appeals to lovers of dystopian literature who are looking for something refreshing and new.

Rozelle’s writing roots sprouted with poetry and prose in countless journals in her early years, continuing through her tumultuous teenage years, and well into her turbulent young adult life. Though her younger self dreamed of scribing non-fiction and poetry someday, when she discovered the magic in creating fiction she never looked back. Overcoming countless obstacles of her own, the wisdom gained along her personal path through healing breathes life into her beautifully dark, yet hopeful tales of triumph. Filled with an array of emotional triggers, not many topics are off limits in her works. Rozelle’s exceptional storytelling dives deep into the survival and growth journeys of diverse, broken characters and unlikely heroes. Authentic, gritty, intricate, and wildly imaginative, her stories also offer hope—a light in the dark—as her characters discover their own inner strengths and worth in the midst of debilitating adversity.

If you’ve enjoyed any of her books, you can thank Christina by leaving an honest review of any length on Amazon.
