Discovering the Earth s most Awe-Inspiring Places Disc 1: Sedona, Peru & Costa Rica-Sedona is a small city in Northern Arizona that boasts a breathtaking landscape of mountains, desert and unique red sandstone formations. Damon sets out to uncover the source of Sedona's enchanting powers. In Peru, Damon embarks on a journey high in the Andes to the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu, traveling through the major cities and smaller villages of Peru, before reaching his ultimate destination. Finally, in Costa Rica Damon journeys through the lush Costa Rican rainforest. Disc 2: Ireland & Malta- Damon explores Ireland s spiritual history, from ancient Celtic and Druid rituals, to the power of the Catholic Church and on to Ireland's New Age renaissance. Then head to Malta, a tiny island located in the Mediterranean Sea, that has a population of just over 400,000 people, but has a fascinating history and diverse people. Disc 3: China- Damon treks the rural heartland of China's remote provinces to meet some of the nation's most colorful and distinct ethnic minorities. In a land of 1.3 billion people he seeks out the distant villages and peoples that time forgot to learn their traditional myths and legends. Damon then follows the sweep of Imperial China from the first Emperor 200 years before Christ to the last one, under a century ago. Disc 4: Malaysia & Bali- Damon travels the sweep of Malaysia from modern nation, through colonial outpost, to ancient untamed wilderness, as he crisscrosses the country to experience the land and her people. In Bali, Damon explores a tropical paradise, observing how the local people have borrowed from the consumer culture of the west, while still nurturing their own traditions. Disc 5: Nepal & Myanmar- Join Damon in Nepal as he travels from the dusty streets of Kathmandu to the rural splendor of ancient villages and on to the pristine mountains of the Himalayas, home to eight of the world s ten largest peaks. Next, Damon travels through Myanmar, this devoutly Buddhist country, visiting stunning pagoda temples, humble monasteries and chillingly accurate fortune tellers. Disc 6: South Africa & Taiwan- Damon treks across South Africa, this dangerous, yet beautiful, country, exploring its many contrasts. From the bustle of Capetown to the wilderness of the desert. From the quaint and friendly villages to the luxurious tourists resorts. In Taiwan, Damon heads from the bustling metropolis of Taipei to the rural areas in the East, spending time among the people and connecting with the cultural character of the country. Geographic Travel Journalist Damon Redfern was born in the UK, and by the time he was 15, he'd already traveled around the world several times. After he finished school he joined the Voluntary Service Overseas, the British equivalent of the Peace Corps, and was assigned to be a teacher in Uganda. His experiences in the service only solidified his love for exploring unique destinations. Damon has always maintained a fascination with the nature of the human condition and as the host of Trekking the World he has had the opportunity to explore history, culture, spirituality and mystical wonders all over the world.

My wife and I were very interested in knowing more about the places and culture, yet the one on Taiwan was dedicated almost exclusively to Buddhism. We learned very little about Taiwan but felt inundated about Buddhism.

IF the jacket on the DVD set advertised this differently that would be fine. Yet it says nothing about this sort of thing and leads one to believe they will learn about these areas "Discovering the Earth's Most Awe-Inspiring Places", not just one specific thing about the area. We didn't feel we learned much at all about "Earth's Most Awe-Inspiring PLACES".

The one on South Africa was quite similar though at least more about South Africa. All in all, the price was right yet the subtitle seems terribly misleading.
